So go make them then. I see so many little dorks say this sh!t but put the program in front of them and they'll be like DURRRRR.

Rap is worst than emo

Actually, rap is the absolute worst.. it makes my brain hurt. I rather listen to country or Christmas music than rap

Well let's get down to it.

emo = rap, just a different beat.

Look at Eminem. Talk about folk and the telling of a story (folk). Extremely talented lyricist and singer. But break it down and he's still telling a story of the hardships and pleasures of life.

Look at dagnasty and 7 seconds. Such emotion and talent. But they are still telling a story - of loss, of joy, of accomplishment, of conquest.

Country?
Same thing. And if one cannot appreciate some of the talent in this area one cannot comment on music.

Jazz?
Well its mainly instrumental and just sounds so freaking good.

Classical?
speaks for itself.

Pop?
No story to tell here, just babbling. But some of it can be pretty decent.

My point? Rap and Emo and Country all have their roots in emotional expression. You can't call emo or rap the worst genre because they are one and the same in too many aspects.

I would say rap. I have never had "emo" forced upon me by ghetto bangers. Rap is forced upon my ears sometimes.

Raggae, Country, and Pop should be on that list in place of the current choices.

Rap definetely has its ups and downs, but it generally has a few good songs to listen to.

Emo is not necessarily bad, I like Linkin Park, Staind, and Mudvayne. But some other bands sound like they are going to start crying in a song...

Some of the best music to come out of the 80s is classified as this new "genre" called "emo." I emplore everybody to listen to Dagnasty's first two releases.

On the flip side we have rap. Some of the best rap ever was released in the late 80s/early 90s. Ala eric b and rakim, nig's for life, Ice T, Cube, Dre - the amount of talent flowing through that list right there smothers anything released to this day.

There is crap in every classification of music. It is the shallow mind that cannot hear the talent/skill and raw emotion of expression.

It smothers Jay-z? My black suitemate would beg to differ.

I am so sick of the whole emo "lifestyle". I mean i go and walk through the mall and I see so much of the same idiot high school emo dressed kids with their damn hair and facial expressions and it makes me pissed off. I used to respect the random dude you saw every once in a while doing his thing wearing his clothes because he wanted to. Now EVERYBODY does it and it's enough.

Of course. I thought about editing my post on that point but let it stand.

But emo and rap have their roots in folk.

It's funny that your biggest dislike in music cannot even be defined.

Emo = ?

this thread sucks.

how can you dismiss an entire genre of music?

in every genre, from emo to new wave to death metal to trance, there are awsomely great artists and really terrible ones.

if we dismissed any genre of music that produced some bad songs, we'd all be listening to talk radio.

great emo bands that I can think of off the top of my head: The Smiths, The Cure, Weezer, Bright Eyes

Quote from wikipedia itself:

"In 2001 in Washington, D.C., some whiny sh!t and a sad sad kid, veterans of the hard high school life, decided to cry about sh!t and whine whine whine while taking bad pictures in black and white while looking off into the distance. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

F*gs + Crying + BadMusic = Emo"

Rap and Emo both suck... i hate them with a passion... But i must say Emo sucks more....

In all emo you have lyrics about sad sh!t and how they want to kill themself, there is an anorexic drummer, a nerdy bass player with big glasses... Also there is the loud screem; every emo song has to have the screechy long screem....

Emo sucks

all you guys who are saying you hate emo don't know what you're talking about b/c all you have heard is mtv's version of it, same goes for rap.

If all you've heard is dashboard/kayne/or whatever crunk spouting loser is on the radio, leave the thread.

Haha, so this thread got me thinking about emo music and I finally remembered to look something up that I've wanted to know for a long time. That something was wondering if the lead singer of Coheed and Cambria was a guy or a girl(turns out it's a guy, I was thinking it was a girl :confused. Anyways, I was at their website, and I made the mistake of looking at their forum. Some very entertaining stuff there...

any forum dedicated to one band is bound to turn into fanboi paradise.

I remember on the smashing pumpkins forums, back in the day, there were a lot of threads about how much better they were than The Beatles and how Billy Corgan was the greatest writer to ever live.
