Okay, so those are two of the papers I've read. I still find his results bizarre. For instance, that he can define as a parameter of "Anger" music a stacatto attack. I can think of instances where a sustained loud attack would sound more angry than a short one. However, he doesn't give a category with Loud and Legato articulation.
I also find it problematic that he uses such obviously culturally situated examples for his test. The mazurka examples especially might make no sense at all to someone who is not familiar with the Western classical tradition. Heck, I studied classical music for 16 years until moving towards contemporary music a little over 2 years ago, and I already have trouble identifying with his emotional dimensions.
