What were you recognized for? Did you receive a prize? (Fruit basket, parking spot, Denny's gift certificate...etc)

I've never gotten it (my company doesn't have it) but my GF got it around six months back. They let you pick a restaurant and send you there and back with a driver service and pay for everything. We picked one of the fanciest and most expensive restaurants we could find and spent like $700 ... and the food was a bunch of weird stuff that was really hard to eat D:

I consider myself a member by association

While I was in college working at walmart, I got a verbal warning once for riding on a pallet jack after I had clocked out and was bringing the jack up to the front for the manager to pull a few pallets of stuff in the front door. They said I was providing an unsafe environment for fellow co workers and the big boss told me if he had seen me doing it, he would have fired me on the spot.

Next month I got employee of the month and had my picture displayed at the front of the store for helping customers and doing something extraordinary (I don't remember what exactly).

the only places that have "employee of the month" are retail and food services

That's been my experience too. I got it working in a restaurant, basically just for doing what they pay me to do and not being stoned out of my mind while doing it. The bar was low

The manufacturing and software company that I work for has a program like this. I've never been picked. Actually, only two people from our entire software department have ever been picked. Not surprising... the manufacturing people have no idea what we do on the software side.

Somehow a movie with Dane Cook AND Jessica Simpson turned out to be good. I blame Dax Shepherd and Pedro.

I'm self employed so I'm the employee of the month, every month.

I regularly reward myself with beer.

I should get one of those plaques that say it and post it on the wall with my photo.

I worked at a "large online Trading firm" as a tech support phone monkey. Did really good and was quickly moved up to the big time baller lines (8 digit$$ or more accounts) to coddle them. After a few weeks of that I got an award for representative of the month for my dept. Got a lunch with the c-level executives and a shirt. I might have got 4 hours of PTO too. Was over 10 years ago, don't remember specifics.

At McDonald's, I got a free extra value meal if my register came in with the correct amount at the end of a shift. I think I got it 2-3 times. It was hard to get since other employees would keep using my register and screw up my totals. IIRC, I actually complained about that because I really wanted my Big Mac value meal.

Ya mean the perk you may get for staying/excelling in such a low paying job?

Years ago I worked at a company that did similar associate recognition. I ended up winning Management Associate of the Year. Got a jacket, a week of paid vacation, a monetary bonus, and dinner with the CEO.

I got a tone of surprise that I got a job finished no one asked for. That's closest thing to an award I've gotten, and I'd do it all the time if someone would organize a job chart. I'd make a fancy job chart, but no one would use it.

Miracles are expected, and failure to provide miracles brings disappointment. Success never gets praise.

Can't say I've worked at any job where they have an EOTM. Is this generally fast food or the service sector?

As long as the EOTM equates to a raise,I couldn't care less if I get it or not.
