There's also www.epinions.com and www.pricegrabber.com .

Personally, I think EMS has been "spanked" enough, but you could also contact the Better Business Bureau in (I think) Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

I just hope they stay in business long enough to credit back my charges!

Hi, I am so pissed at this company. I made three orders from them a samsung 955df monitor, logitech z540 speakers, and a logitech mouse. I made three separate orders for each item since they didn't allow them to buy them all in one order and now they send me an email saying that they have cancelled my order. THE BIG F****** QUESTIONS is which order was canceled. I am hoping it was not the monitor since it was at such as good price and with the free shipping it was a great deal that I couldn't pass. Now I have to go through the pain of contacting their customer service and find out if all of the orders were canceled or just one of them. I CAN'T EXPRESS HOW MAD I AM AT THEM?

I think that if we all contact better business bureau office, they might be thougher on them since they have more complaint about them. I am glad their seller ratings is going down.

I REGRET DOING BUSINESS WITH EMS COMPUTING, I'LL NEVER BUY AGAIN FROM THEM.

I am trying to prusue some other avenues of inquiry here in Florida. EMS is in Gainsville and I live in the Tampa Bay area so I cannot just stop by their office. Does anyone know the address of the office they are moving to?
Florida Division of Corporations online (Public Inquiry) Link gives old address with officers.
I e-mailed BizRate.com ,will send e-mail to Resellerratings, and the Northeast Florida BBB Link.
I had ordered Antec SX830 case $59, CC charged, and received same cancelled order e-mail :|

The link in JoeS's post above has the names and home addresses of what appears to be the president and vice president of EMS Computing. Did anyone realize that a simple phone number search on Yahoo! seemingly gives their home phone numbers, in case anyone might want them for some reason?:Q

Like many other people here, I too received the following "sorry, we're canceling your order" e-mail on Sunday, August 4th.

--
Dear Valued Customer,

We have received your recent order; however, we will be unable to ship your
product(s) in a timely manner. As a result, we have cancelled your order.
In the unlikely event your credit card was charged, a full refund will be posted to your account within 3-5 business days. We sincerely apologize for any inconvienience this may have caused you, and hope we may be able to better serve you in the futue.

In reply, I sent them the following letter Sunday evening, read reciept requested:

--
Dear Sirs:

Why will you be unable to ship my purchase?

As of 6pm CST on Sunday, August 04, 2002, your website shows the following:

""LOGITECH Z560 5-PIECE THX SRS SPEAKER SYS
3074 units are currently available.
If you wish to place an order for this item, please click the "Add To Cart" image located in the lower left hand corner of this window or contact our sales team by email at Sales@emscomputing.com and one of our representatives will be happy to assist you in ordering this product.""

So much for checking "Real-Time Availability", I suppose.

Also, you state that "In the unlikely event your credit card was charged, a full refund will be posted to your account within 3-5 business days.". My bank records indicate that my credit card was charged the same day I placed the order (Monday, July 29, 2002). Why was my card charged if you did not have the item in stock, or would be unable to ship it in a "timely manner"?

Overall, I am *most* disapointed in EMS Computing and the way your company has handled this order. From information gathered from your phone lines when I tried to contact you numerous times about my order last week, I learned you were moving to a new location. Why did you continue to take orders when you *knew* you would be unavailable by phone and wouldn't be able to process orders? More importantly, why did you accept payment for orders it appears you had no intention of filling?

*real name edited here*

Today, I received THIS from them at 4.45pm, CST:

You ought to read the thread. The price don't matter if you don't get the goods.

From my post at resellerratings
9/14/01 1:06 AM
I ordered an Antec 350w psu on 8/23. At the time there were 40+ in stock.Several days passed by with no email whatsoever.I went to their site and chatted with Alex and he told me the item was on backorder with no eta. I cancelled the order on 8/28 (They had plenty of time to contact me on the backorder, don't you think? They never did!) A charge appeared on my card on 8/29! I emailed them and on 8/30 they responded with an apology and a promise of an investigation. It is 9/13 and the charge has not been credited. I will dispute with my cc co. Their site states no charge on backordered items but I was charged and they won't do anything about it. The trouble they put you thru because of their blatant dishonesty is a crime. I have to do a charge back with my cc co. Post here, register a complaint with BBB and advise and post at Cnet. If I was the only one experiencing this kind of problem I might even work with them. But no, it appears to be usual and customary.Take off your list unless you like playing the lottery with your purchases. You never know. You might be the lucky one
1 month after my bank credited my account, EMS posted a credit, which my bank promptly snarfed up.. They had already been contacted by BBB. So, EMS's credit came through in October for an August purchase. Don't hold your collective breaths folks. Just dispute, dispute, dispute.

Trigger-happy mods locked my new thread, so we have to go to the end of this one. Has anybody got a refund?

Don't wait, just call your credit card company and dispute

Thats what I did, they were more than able to help me... and before I even suggested a dispute the guy on the phone told me thats what we are going to do.

I checked with my credit card today (MC through MBNA Bank) and my card was charged on the 28th of July. I have NOT received a cancel e-mail from EMS yet.

I asked the MC person to "dispute" the charges and was transfered to the proper department to file a dispute.

The phone gal said that I can dispute the charge within 60 days from ordering if I don't receive my goods in satisfactory condition. MC gives a "company" 30 days to deliver the goods BEFORE they will dispute the charges. The MC person also said that I should FILL OUT THE BACK OF MY NEXT STATEMENT (where the "dispute" form is) by August 28, 2002 and dispute the charge if I didn't receive my order by then.

MC also said that I have $0 financial responsibility if I don't receive my order AS LONG AS I dispute within 60 days from placing my order.

Just curious...it seems like only 1 or 2 board members received their orders. How many folks ordered on Saturaday (before 12 a.m. Sunday morning) and still received the cancel e-mail. I ordered at ~10:30 pm. on Saturday night.

Thanks,

Bud

Budarow, I was browsing the hotdeals and looked through EMS Computing on Friday night-> ordered on Saturday morning 1:41am, confirmation email about 3 hours later. I got the same cancellation. My charge on my card appeared on Tuesday the 30th, the date on it though was July 27th, the day I placed the order.

The case I ordered, the SX600 actually does seem to be out of stock just about everywhere, so I guess the cancellation was legitimate for my order but I'm definitely still waiting to see my credit.

I have no idea how debit cards and my bank deal with disputing charges, I hope I don't have to find out.

Make no mistake about it...EMS has been VERY VERY POOR at communicating throughout this "free shipping" nightmare, but SOME of the problems could be a combination of screwups IF (and that's a BIG IF) EMS is not trying to REALLY rip everyone off.

As I said earlier in this post "I bought a Logitech Momo Wheel/Pedals from EMS back in February and it was the same deal (i.e., free shipping and a really good price when compared to Pricewatch). They didn't send me an e-mail confirmation and shipping/billing was NUTTY. I got my wheel within 1 week and everything worked out fine (even with their "lack" of communication)."

There lack of communication appears to be consistent with my ONE-TIME experience with EMS.

Since MC told me I have NOTHING to loose in waiting...that's what I'm going to do for now.

Everyone who ordered and DID NOT RECEIVE a credit through MC/VISA or their bank debt card should contact their card company and find out the precedures for a dispute, etc. AND ask if you will be held responsible for any fraud.

IF you have no financial risk (apparently I do not based on my telephone call with MC), don't get nervous about it. The worst that could happen is you don't receive your goods and you have to dispute the charge AND you pay nothing.

Vinny_n...maybe the free shipping was supposed to end at 12 midnight on Friday night?

I mailed dispute documentation to Providian Visa today. The thought of EMS going bankrupt is making me a little queasy.

I ordered my case Sat nite about 11:00pm. Got the confirmation e-mail around 6 hours later at 5:00am. First communication after that was on Sunday (8/04) telling me they cancelled. I called my cc on Monday (I think) and disputed the charges. I left my thoughts at Resellerratings, Bizrating, and the FTC.

I sent a complaint letter via PlanetFeedback.com which was bounced because the email address that they had was invalid (info@emscomputing.com). I forwarded it to customer@emscomputing.com and got this back, just like raven457:

Sorry...you'll have to excuse my ignorance. But what's that mean? Did EMS delete the mail without even reading it? Even if they did, why did you guys get that Returned Mail message?

Since they didn't respond to our emails, it means that they care so little about their customers that they just ignore customer complaints without even bothering to respond. No form letter, no nothing. They just hit the delete key.
