You are having some MAJOR issues following along. Your logic is flawed. So if you don't like working for a union shop then you can just go work somewhere else, but if you don't like working at Walmart or McDonalds you...do what exactly? Do you think Walmart, McDonalds, etc... should be forced to pay their employees more, offer them better healthcare...etc?

As for my other point, I was pointing out how the argument "because the majority voted for it" is a horrible rationalization. Yes, that is the correct answer if someone asks "Why DO non-union employees have to pay union dues?", or "Why DO you have to join a union to work somewhere?" What people are asking is "Why SHOULD non-union employees have to pay union dues?", or "Why SHOULD you have to join a union to work somewhere?" If you're trying to have a rational discussion with someone the rebuttal is not "because I said so", which is basically what you're saying.

Yea, with companies like wal-mart paying their employees sub-standard wages, who needs unions.
If the Walton family is listed as one of the richest families in the world, there is no reason for their employees to be drawing social assistance.

You all seem to agree about unions but the different arguments that the 3 of you have made contradict each other. That's why I said you could just debate each other. I think you misunderstood my tone, I was not aping out. Also, I think the problem that you're having in this thread is that you're refusing to give your opinion so everyone else has to guess. If the only reason you posted in this thread was to clear up a misunderstanding on how unions worked then that's great, but it sure seemed like you were also in favor of the policies you described. I'm sure you can see how your refusal to give an opinion could be confusing given the context of this forum.
