That's a good start, now I'm interested. This line "This product performs as advertised and does not negatively affect the host oil or engine based on the results above. This product is more effective than a solvent flush and has none of the negatives associated with it." Is very reassuring. Now I just have to do a bunch of homework so I'll know what all those numbers mean.

For the record, I cannot personally say that the stuff works. I was unable to discern any differences in engine performance or oil consumption after the treatment.

Chuck,

You've missed the point. Testimonials are the very hallmark of snake-oil. Those testimonials are exactly worthless without any hard evidence to back them up. MPG is affected by dozens of factors, including driving style, terrain covered (gradient and surface), vehicle load, seasonal fuel mixes, and temperature. Just changing driving style alone can easily change MPG by more than 1-2MPG

Aaron's test is indicative of nothing useful, because he doesn't have a control. We don't know if good oil, new filters and hot runs wouldn't have delivered exactly the same results. Its independence is also highly questionable (don't give me that dramatic Supreme Court challenge story, it's hosted on the Auto-RX site!).

Dyson's tests also lack a control (they could have just done the Auto-RX process without the Auto-RX, using some good oil, on the same engines, prior to the Auto-RX test).

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, the available evidence suggests that it at least won't do your engine any harm. I guess it isn't an overly expensive experiment either. I personally would need more than is presented in order to put it in my car, but others may be happy to give it a whirl based on the glowing feedback available on the Auto-RX website, and of satisfied customers like you elsewhere.

"Fuel consumption, smoothness, and operating temperature were monitored. "Clean" Auto-Rx tested 7.1 cSt at 100C. Spectrography was blind to
the fatty acid ester base. Auto-Rx provided a natural solvency and dispersant effect to include boundary layer lubrication evidenced by a drop in wear levels in
both A and C. B wear metals are normal, slight rise due to poor baseline sample mixing. B sat idle for months affecting NOX. Most notable was the rise in
OXD(31%avg) and drop in NOX(26%avg). The Auto-Rx natural micel action carried the wear materials safely to the oil filters until drain. Combustion
efficiency increased through improved piston ring and valve seal. Fuel dilution dropped in both B and C while A had a worn O2 sensor. A minimum 7% fuel
economy gain was noted in C. Oil filter visual analysis for A and B was not instructive. C showed a high load of carbonaceous particulates. Continued fuel
economy and wear data are ongoing for all three test vehicles. B had gasket leaks that sealed after use of Auto-Rx. C had a tapping lifter (from carbonaceous
buildup) that ceased. within 3 minutes of installation of Auto-Rx."

Odd comments that again do not inspire confidence in the product. The test vehicles also seem odd to me. Where is the comparison to other products and the control?

Was the oil change protocol for AutoRx followed? If so, was it the repeated oil changes that produced the effects?

The oil must have been changed, although that is not exactly clear from the report.

The report seems to imply that merely adding the AutoRx produced the results, but that can't be true from the spectrographic figures, imo.

The tapping lifter quieting can occur from all sorts of products, including just changing the oil.

"Meeting the unique testing interpretive needs of lubricant formulators, racing engine builders, major oil companies, forensics, industrial applications, testing and validation, and additive companies.

Contact us for a quote for the analytical and interpretive skills that only Dyson Analysis can offer from a proprietary and independent source"

Not a proper testing service, imo.

Alot has changed over the years, back in January of 2009 auto-rx was let go as a sponsor on BITOG and the owner of auto-rx, Frank Miller, was banned from Bitog, seems Mr. Miller was insulting members when they did not get any results from using his product.

Dyson Analysis and auto-rx are business partners so you cannot believe any of the UOA results from Terry Dyson, he was also ran off BITOG after he tried to promote some oil called Biosyn that costs about $12.00 for a quart of oil. Auto-Rx is on the Dyson site and on the arx site they have Dyson Analysis.

The so called tests that auto-rx has are all bogus, every test was controlled by Frank Miller since he gave free product to run his tests, we cannot buy the tests from Gary Allan and dnewton3 since they are on the arx payroll. The reason arx does not do any real world tests is because the owner knows his product is nothing but SNAKEOIL. Frank Miller is a SNAKEOIL SALESMAN, a snakeoil salesman uses acomplices, paid accomplices to push his product. When a product does not work as advertised, then it is snakeoil, when a product does not live up to its marketing hype then it is snakeoil, when a product is supposed to cure many ills and it does not, then it is snake oil. This product is only sold on the internet because if it were sold in stores then the FTC would shut this company down. This product is the SYNLUBE of oil additives, it is just about the most expensive oil additive on the net, a 12 ounce bottle costs about $28.00, it is an overpriced underperformer. There are about 45 Locked auto-rx threads on BITOG, it is so bad that the owner of BITOG put up a sticky today in the oil additive section saying she would ban members if they said anything bad about auto-rx. I guess she has a soft spot for the product since there was a time when her late husband ran the board and he protected auto-rx at all costs. Anyone who questioned Frank Miller about his product not working would get banned from BITOG. If you still don't believe me, visit the arx site, the only one who posts on the arx forum, is Frank Miller, better yet, if you live in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, his address is on his website, go visit the arx headqwuarters. It is probably a townhouse or apartment. You can then ask to see the bathroom, that is where the arx warehouse is, right under the sink.

Here is how bad things are for this snakeoil called auto-rx, they changed the name of there product to Auto-Rx Plus, seems auto-rx had a bad reputation and it was not selling. This product used to have a money back guarantee, they have since gotten rid of that guarantee. There are many people on bitog who are paid posters for this product, and here are the names:

Trajan
Donald
badtlc
dnewton3

Dnewton3 is a moderator on bitog, Frank Miller was smart in getting him on the payroll, since most members will not attack a moderator. Auto-Rx has alot of theories but they do not have any proof that the product works. I almost forgot to add 1 more name, sprintman, he is an auto-rx distributor in Australia. Except for the sticky in the oil additive section on BITOG, auto-rx is now on the 4th page. sprintman is an interesting guy, he was telling people to use 2.5 bottles of auto-rx, so you would have to buy 3 bottles that comes to $71.00, then he was telling people to cover there radiators while using this product, give me a break

1100 people over the last 12 years have bought into this SNAKEOIL, that's 1100 people in the United States, auto-rx is guaranteed to do one thing better than any other oil additive on the market, AND THAT IS TO LIGHTEN YOUR WALLET.

Hello. This thread is over four and a half years old. There was no good reason to bump it back to the front page of the forum. Bumping old threads only causes confusion as people respond to the original post even though the original poster's issue has long since been resolved. It also tends to obscure your own post since it's just buried in the replies and others often miss it.

In the future, please pay attention to the age of the threads you're posting in and avoid adding new posts to threads that are long since dead.
