I'm going to start learning German at some point. Those genders and der, die, whatever do look scary. Best I'll probably do is memorize some expressions.

As for French genders, the endings do occasionally help (like -ette) but compared to Spanish, I've found less of a pattern. For example, la computadora and la ventana for Spanish should translate to la ordinateur and la fenêtre in French. On the otherhand, el papel and la luz don't help anyone...

On English in general, I learned a while ago to ignore the spelling: it's pronounced the way it's pronounced, spelling is more like a hint in English. Irish, now that's a real bitch. Good luck:

Memorizing some expressions sadly doesn't lead to any conversational ability, just primary survival.

Irish certainly has a weird spelling but I have no idea whether it's consistent or not.

French has convoluted spelling but it's regular so it's not difficult to write it after a while.

Ordinateur is masculine. The feminine form is ordinatrice. It's one of those patterns that tell you the article.
Easier for me maybe because this pattern is quite present in italian as well, but it's also present in English, and as usual in English it's closer to the latin original: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/-rix#English

Fenêtre allows me to cheat because it comes from Latin fenestra and it was feminine in Latin and it stayed feminine in all languages that come from Latin.

Note that German Fenster is neutral, DAS Fenster. This is how upsetting that language is, one of the few times they acquire a word through Latin they have to ruin it by changing the article arbitrarily.

I use german with my dog too despite having a hard time talking it fluently.

It's really better than some other languages because the commands are short words. English is just as good though.

Come - komm (literally the same)
Sit - sitz (same except for that ts ending)
heel - fuss (= foot)
stay - bleib (blah-yb)
down - platz (= place, sounds stupid but it's how it is) (plah-tz)

I suggest to go on forvo.com and hear how the germans say these words.
