Enough with the Fedora Hats!

i fucking hate shallow baseball caps. that shit should come to the tops of my ears.

But should NOT be worn OVER the tops of your ears. WTF is up with that trend?

lol, i can't recall ever seeing that.

but a flexfit hat that comes close to the tops of my, uh, ear joints, or whatever you wanna call that part that connects them to your head, it tits. there is no superior headwear.

i like a boonie hat more for function, but you can't wear that around in public and look normal (yes, there are more 'hip' versions of the military boonie, but that looks queer).

Flat caps are where it's at. I think they look better on older people though, perhaps because that's usually who I see them on.

It's about the most un-functional a hat can be, really....a hot dome (they used to be wool, ffs!) with no real ventilation and a vestigial visor that does little to keep the sun out of your eyes...?


The Tilley hat is probably the ideal "pure, functional hat for a human being," followed closely by the venerable tuque.

I've got a whole pile of fedoras....they are great for trying to look nicer, but I run into the problem of not knowing where to put them when indoors....a soft bucket hat I can stick in my pocket, a Tilley-style hat I can tie somewhere by the strap or even sit on it. A baseball cap you can usually hang on a chair back or even sit on it in a pinch. Can't do any of this with a fedora, and they end up getting crushed/bent.

Seriously? It's a baseball cap, everyone wears baseball caps. Wearing a baseball cap makes you look like a normal human being, unless your from NZ I guess. What next, you're gonna tell me that North and South America are all one giant continent?

Just this month a lot of kids in the school I work at have started wearing them, I feel like I'm in a mob movie walking down the hallway.

Black spandex pants on girls seems to be back this year too, and the guys wear skinny jeans with their undies hanging out. wtf.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. I know a great many people who wear baseball style caps and look just fine. Now, if it's a "trucker" hat, or a flat wide brim cap, I'd agree with you.
