For those who don't know, Dovebid is one of the largest auction scammers in the US. They are under investigation by no less than 20 states Attorney General for auction misconduct ranging from charging inflated auction commissions and shipping to schill bidding. Dovebid is also not a court-appointed or authorized auction company so their sales are not absolute bankruptcy sales like they advertise. 99% of all equipment sold at a Dovebid auctions sells for more than the equivalent new equipment once you add in their fees. Dovebid also allows pre-bidding, proxy bidding and bidding over the Internet. All their auctions have a set minimum and you do not know if you actually whave won an item until days later when all the bids are "evaluated" and the minimum has been received

<< Cool GetReal...just the perfect kind of company to handle the Enron account :Q >>

LOL. I wonder if any of those shredders are gold plated! They should offer them to the stockholders first so that they will something to do with their worthless stock certificates.

so from reading the site you basically pay a 30% premium in addition to shipping and the cost of the item?? i don't even know if there is anything that will be worth that price.

someone tell us if there are potential deals or if i misread the site,

From Dovebid's website:

"Terms & Conditions

Buyer's Premium. DoveBid may, in its discretion, charge a buyer's premium or other service charge on assets sold. All such charges will be indicated in the relevant auction brochure, asset detail page or other clearly marked area of the Website. If charged, the buyer?s premium shall be 13% of the sales price of each asset sold, and shall be collected by DoveBid directly from each successful bidder, in addition to the purchase price as bid. Notwithstanding the foregoing, a discount from the Buyer?s Premium equal to 3% of the sales price shall apply to purchasers who pay in the form of cash, cashier?s check, company check (with a letter of guarantee) or wire transfer (unless such purchasers bid over the Internet, in which case the discount shall be equal to 1% of the sales price)"

13% added to price, plus this is taking place in the UK, so add in shipping, and probably some tarrifs.

from their site:

Buyers in US/ Non-European Countries: the following will be added to the purchase price: 17.5% Value Added Tax (VAT); 13% for purchases via credit card.

add an additional 30% to your bid (assuming you pay with cc)

This is illegal! You don't charge VAT to non-european citizens. It is only charged to citizens in the EU, and REMOVED from orders shipped internationally. Basically, they are keeping an extra 47.5% for themselves, since the tax shouldn't be collected.

VAT is never added to exports.
