Ensuring a scrape-free exit from my driveway

I just bought a Lexus IS and it's a little bit too low for my driveway. Whenever I back out, the front scrapes against the curb.

The Driveway Curb Bridge is the only quick solution I've found so far. It's a bit costly and I could easily imagine it suddenly being gone one morning for a variety of reasons. I don't need such a wide solution either.

What have you guys done to solve this problem?

Buy a truck.

drive slowly at an angle, so that 1 wheel hits the bottom 1st

If you cannot drive at an ankle like audiotherapy said, you have to either jack the suspension or put something in the way like that bridge. I'm not sure you'd necessarily be allowed to but you could also run some new concrete at the driveway smoothing it out, though you'd need drainage under it. My guess is you'd not be allowed to do that on the street, in which case you could grind down the front of your driveway to make its angle increase less severe.

Put a piece of wood there.. a 2x4. I've seen a lot of people do it.

My buddy had similar issues and ended up re-grading the driveway. Costly, but effective.

I didn't think the IS models were THAT low to the ground, sounds like you need to work on the driver mod?

Is it stock? I'd just get some rims. It'd look better too.

i almost added, "aside from 'donking' it," but i'd like to belie the fact that i know anything of that car culture.

but in case he doesn't know- typical wheel size changes are not accompanied by a change in the rolling diameter of the tire.

also, the above pic is a complete waste of a beautiful car. i <3 boattail riverias.

Expendable Rub strips under the front of the car?

Are you sure it isn't just the cheap plastic bit that's meant to scrape on the ground when clearance gets too close?

It's usually a plain flat black part that is a bit lower. Can kinda see it in this photo, I think. It will scrape first as a warning.

I've been backing out slowly at an angle. That works well. Maybe that's why so many people around here park their cars on the street instead of in their garage or on their driveway.
