So was that ship/repair station essentially an early incarnation of the Borg? Seemed like it to me.

I agree. The green and black motif at the end suggests this as well.

Did anyone see the preview for next week's episode?

you can say that, but its more of an information center where the station like lives off of information to help itself build. but i can see how you can relate it to 'borg'

I don't think they're far out enough into space for this to be an early borg thing. I mean, in TNG times, the Borg came from way the hell away for the Enterprise-D. My impression is that where the Enterprise is right now, is not very far out in space, compared to where they go in TNG times. Hell, they just had their first encounter with the Romulans.

Nope, not the borg. Wrong quatrent. Besides the borg where around much loger that that. In fist contact they go back in time and try and contact the borg from that time period (pre enterprise). In Voyager they also make a few references to the borg being around a Lot longer that that (and being in the Delta Quadrent).

I agree there were some inconsistencies, but the semi-sentience of the repair station, hijacking various life forms to plug them into the "mainframe", and especially the discussion of the "interface" widget they pulled off Meriwether. Very reminiscent of 7of9's implants. I too, thought the Borg were waaaay older than the timeframe of this episode, but perhaps the show's producers took a bit of artistic license with the timeline for the sake of a good story.

the borg are cyborgs, the station had no core human counterpart (other then the stolen bodies). They originated in the delta quadrent and hadnt arrived here yet.

i thought the peisode was very good.
