Dude, Y-wings sucked the worst. A-wings were fast. X-wings are the multi-role, B-wings had firepower. Y-wings were just slow fucktard bombers with shit shields (from what I remember back in the old X-wing video game days).

X-Wing vs TIE Fighter and X-Wing Alliance.

Yeah, the Y-wings maneuvered like they were stuck in very cold honey. A-Wings ruled. Fast, maneuverable, and they still could carry a large payload of warheads.

B-Wings aren't bad at all. In X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter and even X Wing Alliance playing as a B-wing bomber can do quite a bit. Yes, Y-wings were the fail. The speed ratings were about the same but the B-Wing had a 10% advantage. However the way increased shielding and maneuverability made them decent.

B wing guns are too f'ing spread apart leading to screwed up laser convergence. If you tailed a tie fighter too closely, either your guns will fire around him or you'd have to aim to the side and only have 1 laser hitting him.

Ok I'm done nerd fighting

SSD's don't go off into space by themselves (or any Star Destroyer), unlike the Enterprise.
Think of Star Destroyer's like carrier groups. They deploy fighter and bomber wings by the hundreds, and act like amphibious assault ships with AT-AT's, Storm Troopers, etc. They have frigates, cruisers, corvettes (blockade runners) and interdictor class destroyers at all flanks.

Enterprise was an exploration ship with only a transport bay. No fighters, bombers or any of the sort. Weapons were underpowered even by ST standards. Only thing advanced was the drive, research labs, and the medical center.

Enterprise would vaporize as soon as Picard hailed all frequencies.

Of course, we all know:
Star Trek >> Star Wars

That said, the Enterprise wouldn't have a chance.

Your first argument is irrelevent for two reasons. First of all, it goes against the spirit of the poll. I could make all sorts of claims about how the Enterprise should enter battle in a fleet, but that's not what the poll says. And yes, galaxy class starships have been known to travel in large fleets (Wolf 359 for example)

While the enterprise did typically have weaker weapons than some of the better klingon/romulan ships, they were by no means "underpowered." Additionally the Enterprise typically had stronger shields than the other races. Considering that the Star Wars universe makes almost no use of shields at all (and when they do they put the generator on a sparsely guarded planet that even a bunch of hairy midgets can take down) I could make the argument that a SSD couldn't get a shot at the Enterprise while the Enterprise bombards it with torpedoes at warp speed.

The truth is that the argument is irrelevant, apples to oranges etc.

and as i said, if you still rely on dinky fighters, your defenses are pathetic. in the st universe fighters seem to be obsolete.

So, are you always like this in real life?

Yep. Phasers are so precise they can simply wipe them out. And remember, SW shields are different from ST shields. They're designed to deflect energy weapons and can be penetrated by torpedoes and such. The turbo laser turrets are slow as shit and wouldn't have a chance of hitting the enterprise at full speed. Sure they could launch fighters/bombers, but by the time they engaged the enterprise would have made a run, launched quantum torpedoes at the bridge, engines and a few other critical systems, killed the thing and jumped to warp.

slow down?

Bwings arent dogfighters. they're heavy bombers. everything a Y-wing should have been.

when playing X-wing vs tiefighter, my favorite ship was A-wing, though. load it up with space bombs, and take out low end capital ships without a problem.

Vader no question. It would be instant space ownage. Wouldn't even have to launch fighters the long rage of the force would grapple teh capitan and his hapless crew and make Khan and any lizzard noggin space vermin look like child's play.

Or just distract him like a certain TIE fighter pilot, then clip his fighter.

"What?"
"Yahoooo!"
"Look out!"

A wonderful exchange of dialogue, isn't it?

3 photon torpedoes targeted around the stupid shield generator towers on top of the bridge of the SSD (who is the fucking designer, ewoks?), one to the bridge it self half a second later and bye bye SSD. That is pretty much how it went down no?

And SW vessels cannot fight in hyperspace...so Enterprise can just warp, wait for SSD (they have to setup destination and all to go warp) and just photon torpedo it to hell in hyperspace.

What did the title say before he edited it? "Battleship Mtron"?

In terms of EVE Online the enterprise is like a cruiser, a super star destroyer like a Titan.

You guys obviously never learned the tricks in the Y-wing. Fire your missiles off, with joystick shoot your lasers, with left hand toggle W quickly. Switches between ion cannon and lasers quickly. 4 shots every time a target lines up goes through shields REAL quick.

This works great in the gunship too.

The real question is what would happen if the ssd and enterprise were lined up and one of them was hit by a grain of sand traveling at the speed of light at an angle such that if it passed through it would hit both.
