Mine came in today (and USPS tracking says it still has not even shipped yet, "electronic billing received")

Very professional packaging and looks very nice. Note that it is on one disc per game. It has multiple discs, not a single DVD for each game (NWN has 3 CDs in addition to a CD for each expansion pack). Baldur's Gate is on one DVD, but BG2 has a separate DVD and the expansion packs are on different CDs.

Big Atari logo on the box and on the packaging, only a small black isle studio logo on the disc itself, and no mention of Black Isle Studios, gotta love Atari taking all the credit

I will check the discs to see if Atari slapped some of their famous Sony SecuROM DRM crap on them.

UPDATE: No SecuROM on the Icewind Dale DVD or the BG1 DVD.

Shame I will not be able to play these things till after the finals, which probably means I should go look over some of that calculus based probability material... good old 400 level classes.

Question: How do BG2 and the Icewind dale games run on Vista in general, and Vista 64 in particular? Cheers!

I have all of the games except for IWD 2.

No problems in XP 64bit, although I cant vouch for Vista 64.

Just fine in Vista 64 as well, though YMMV with surround sound, as with all things, obviously.

Incidentally, for BG2, the big modding houses are as follows:

Spellholdstudios.net (note especially BGT and The Big Picture- weidu)
Pocketplane.net (note especially Tutu and Kelsey)
Gibberlings3.net (note especially Crossmod, fixpack, tweakpack)
Chosenofmystra.net
Blackwyrmlair.net (note especially NEJ2)

Thanks guys for the info.

masteraleph, can you run BG2 and IWD it windowed mode by any chance? If so, how do you set this up?

Cheers! I think I might have to fire up BG2 again.

I don't have IWD installed on my laptop, but BG2 definitely can: on the initial screen (before you hit play- has options like "play" and "configure"), go to configure->graphics->display and select Window instead of Full Screen.

Of those, Baldur's Gate II is the best. Really--it rocks. It's too bad they didn't also include Planescape: Torment in the package. Neverwinter Nights is good for online multiplayer, though (check out the Amia server, at the top of the Role Playing category in the multiplayer server browser).

One question and it might be dumb one. But can any of these be played in Multiplayer COOP mode. I know some of the NWN modules dont support mutlitplayer mod.

I like RGP but unless I'm playing with friends I never finish them.

BG2 definitely works in multiplayer Co-op. BG1 as well, I think.

Yes, the only one that I am unsure of is Icewind Dale, but since it is based on BG, I would say probably.

Great info in this thread and great collection of games. I just received mine in the mail today. What a deal!

Back when these were first released I just wasn't into RPGs much. Now that's changed and this gives me something to kill time with on my laptop.

There's also a mod to play Icewind Dale in the IWD2 GUI and graphic options.

Anyway, anytime I have my wife's cheap-o AMD laptop I play BG1 on it. It runs so smooth on it and is the only game I play on it...oh yeah besides Jagged Alliance 2....another GREAT game.

I need heart of winter..and the BG2 throne of bhaal..but I have all BG1's stuff. Hell with it..I'll get this pack when it drops in price some or shows up around town cheap.

This is a great deal for (I think) some of the best RPGs out there. If you like a good story based RPG you can't go wrong with this. Awesome find OP, if I didn't have them all already I would jump on this.

Ugh.. so tempted to get into this deal. I quit WoW over 2 years ago and I feel like I might get addicted to RPG-style games

I was aware of the mod for BG2 / BG1, but I did not know that there was a mod to port Icewind Dale 1 to the IceWind Dale 2's updated engine.

I cannot find it on google, have any links?

By the way, it turns out Black Isle Studios released a free expansion pack for Heart of Winter when fans demanded more, grab it here (and it includes the latest patches for the game)

Finally arrived in the mail.
Got IWD running, with the add-on you can increase the resolution like in BG2.

Got BG1 running under Tutu. Works pretty well so far.

Havent tried IWD2 yet and already have to many copies of NWN (which I dont like anyway).

Got the original way back when it came out and didnt like it. Many years later I thought I could like it if I gave it another shot so I bought the Platinum Edition. One week later I saw the Diamond Edition in stores.
Didnt matter much, even with the two add-ons I still didnt like it.

But going through BG1 again in a higher resolution will be fun. Need to get the mods that increase ammo stack size and make the NPC's interact with each other.
I'll save the Icewind Dale games for later.
