lol..."I won't spend $$$ on a crib/clothes/...."

When your wives are 7 months pregnant, hyper emotional, you will do some dumb things for her and an $800 crib may be one of them. Post back then.

A breast pump lets the baby have the benefits of breast milk even though she can't take the baby to work. She can pump and store milk on her breaks and leave it with the baby at day care.

I believe Obamacare requires the breast pump to be paid for by the insurance company.

But yes, it's an indispensable tool if the mother is working or (like my sister) going to school.

Right click the little arrow at the upper right of her message-->"Hide"-->"Change what updates you get from ____"-->"Only important" or just unfollow her. It will save you a lot of misery.

no disagreement here, though after a kid you realize how much of that tacking on "made for babies" stuff is translation for we get to charge you $$ more!

i especially like the specially filtered water for babies or stuff like dreft. dont get me wrong, there are kids that are allergic and need that sort of stuff but the average kid.

one option that may not be requested is you could buy them an amazon mom + prime membership. the pricing isnt super awesome anymore but you can get 20% off subscribe n save diapers, formula, etc..

I didn't even think you were suppose to have a baby shower for the second through last kids in the first place.

If only I could do that to her in real life.

Also anyone saying $800 is good for crib is BS. There are tons of them at babies r us for less the $800.

Agree, $800 is ridiculous, bottom line. Pick a brand that has the least number of recalls, because at the end of the day, that's all that really matters.

Your kid is most likely going to scratch, dent, puke on, color on, and otherwise destroy the crib. Even then you will probably really only use it for the first year to year and a half, if you're lucky. By that time the kid will be more at risk of falling out of the crib due to climbing.

We bought the cribs that can be repurposed into a headboard and footboard for a full-size bed. Guess what my two daughters have in their bedrooms right now? Yep, you guessed it. My oldest daughter has my youngest daughter's crib as her headboard and footboard and my youngest daughter has my son's crib for hers. Don't think we spent more than $300 for either of them honestly. One we got on clearance at Target and the other on sale at Burlington Coat Factory.

meh. shehateme is blowing it out of proportion. its a registary. you don't have to get the stuff on the list. its just stuff they want.

only thing i see that is silly is the $800 crib. a $200 (since she has kids did she keep the old one?) would work just fine. it should last 2 years easy.

the rest i think is understandable.

she should have clothes if she is buying those brands. its not like they wear out before the kid out grows it.

new bottles? understandble. you are blowing up the brand. they aren't much more and worth it
diapers? duh you NEEd tons of them
walker? we were told nto to use one. it actually makes the kid take longer to learn to walk. get them a jumper instead.

The only way I could see a crib being reasonable at $800 would be if it were the kind that could be turned into a toddler bed and then into a regular bed. And then a Maserati.

That is pretty much the point :sneaky:

For extra points comment on her post about how much greener cloth diapers are

cloth diapers are a pain in the ass. hated cleaning them.

We tried using them with my daughter. switched to disposable pretty fast! lol

BTW cloth diapers (not used eww) make for great drool towels or such for babies. after that you can use them for handkerchiefs

I can tell a lot of folks here have never dealt with a gift registry. *PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BUY YOU CRAP NO MATTER WHAT* Its not about asking for stuff. If you don't direct them you'll get all sorts of weird stuff that you can't use, duplicates, etc, etc. If you're lucky, some of it you'll be able to return. Some of it you have to keep around even though you won't ever use it to display in case said relative ever shows up. Not having a registry ends up being a big pain and a waster of money on the gifters part.

If you don't want to get them something, don't get them something. If all the cheap stuff is taken, give them money or a gift certificate. Whatever you do try to remember the point of a gift is to give them something they'd like to have, not impose what you think they should have. Don't like that $800 crib? Oh well. Its not for you, you don't have to like it.

Once you've gone through this stuff you'll understand. I've straight up told people no gifts and its just easier to have a registry.

She should put college education on the baby registry. Maybe someone would raise the kid for her too?

Not a good idea to sleep with your baby. You can roll over and smother them too easily.

It's her second baby, it should have been a sprinkle, not a shower.

It's sad that I know that term, but my wife is due in July with our 2nd. She isn't going to have anything though, we already have enough shit left over from the first. We might just need different color clothes if it's a boy.

yeah.

we had one. pretty much all we asked for was diapers. you can never have to many of those!

Buy her a tubal ligation, or at least an IUD.

Speaking of IUD, I have a very comical post of hers that I am going to post a screenshot for where she blames Mirena for "moving" and "getting her pregnant".

I do not have a problem with her having a baby registry, I have a problem with her basically demanding that people only get her the exact things from her baby registry. I also have a problem with her complaining about that all day on Facebook and whenever I see her. She thinks she's entitled to the things on her registry because she put them there.

Unless the kid came out of my own vagina, I am NOT buying any Baby Gap, Osh Kosh, or expensive Brand name plastic do-hickeys for your baby.

What I will do is give you $30 for Babys R Us. If she has a problem, I don't know what else to do.

Anyway, wait for the quotables. You guys think I'm tripping....nuh uh. Just wait till I get off of work. I have some shit to show you.
