David,

Feel free to share where one can get that sort of a job. Granted I live in Oregon which has the highest unemployment rate in the nation, but those types of jobs here are not what I've been seeing.

I graduated back in August with an IT degree and the school had ZERO internships in IT while I was there. I've seen more now, of course that I can't get into because I am a graduate.

If you could forward me some info on where to get a $50 an hour job. I guess technically I am a know nothing punk that needs a few years to get productive. The job postings I see want 5 years of professional experience in programming, which sadly is not something many recent college grads will have.

Oregon isn't that far from CA. Heck, its got a lot of the same mentality, budget crisis, and other aspects of CA. Probably from a lot of the Californians moving up here.

FWIW, the Median Home Cost in Portland is in the 160s, but the unemployment rate is also upwards of 8%...

There's going to be a special on the news about jobs going from Oregon to India tonight

Also, I've got a friend in Austin TX who is a programmer making about 72K a year, when the median home cost in Austin is 130k. I'd certainly pass along the info you give me to him. I'm sure he wouldn't mind moving up. He has 12 years of continous work experience. He should be able to land a job in that 100 dollar an hour range or higher.

I would assume as with all rebates from costco it is printed on your reciept and you mail it in.

I'm going to need a good LCD monitor, but not until next summer. Should I jump on this now, or will there be better (or equally good) deals by then?

$399.99 for a 19 inch LCD with DVI, 1280*1024 native resolution, and 25ms response time is unheard of. i would not let this one pass by

I went to my local Costco this evening to pick up the coupon and saw that they had a bunch of these out on the floor already, at the $489 price.

Can I buy the thing tomorrow and then go back on Friday for a price adjustment?

My sentiments exactly. But i guess i will still wait for a little longer since i game pretty often. Definately a great deal if you do not game, and i would jump on this if you don't game much.

i dont expect any ghosting w/ 25ms (very minor ghosting at worst)

Well, 25ms is only 40 cycles per second, so it seems like you would see ghosting with any game running faster than 40 FPS. Not a problem for DVDs, though, which only run at 24 or 30FPS.

Or am I missing something?

Now that I've seen the thing, though, I find myself trying to justify buying it.

My current monitor (Compaq P90) has started flipping out very briefly every now and then, so I'm wondering if it might die soon, in which case I'd have to buy a new one sooner. In the meantime, I could buy this and run a dual-monitor setup.

Decisions, decisions.

hmm that doesn't sound very reasonable... I have a KDS Rad-5 and I doubt it's 11ms... that LCD came out awhile back.. and I tried playing games on it, I notice tons of ghosting...

most poeple do NOT make $100/hr. Not in california, not anywhere.
Sure a good consultant will charge around 100-150/hr but as a consultant you have to look for contract all the time. When there is none you make nada.
Also if you work for a consulting company you dont' get that much anyway.
Programming job average around 60-100k/year. Consultant get more but are paid by the hour and dont' always have work.

The median income in california for a familly of 4 is under 70k/year as per http://www.census.gov/hhes/income/4person.html so making $100/hr is definitly NOT "most people". I think i'm rather conservative when i'm saying that only the top 5% of the population can make that much or more. aka 95% will make LESS than that. Alot less. Sure a decent house (3bed, 2 car) cost 600k+ around here but it doesn't mean that everyone has the income to match it. As a matter of fact i have no idea how people can afford those price.

I've worked as consultant for companies that charged the client from 100-150 bucks per hour for my time. But getting a job as an employee, i'll be lucky to get anything that pay even 100k per Year.

Anyway, when you see people showing off how much they make 'per hour'. You should ask them how much they make 'per year'. It's usually a bit less then you may think.

That's weird. I notice none at all and that's with games like BF1942, CS, UT2003, Q3, etc. running with a G3Ti200. Check here for where I got the review where it said 11ms time.

The link you provide shows a consumer review mentioning the 11ms response time.

If you go to KDS's website, there is no mention of that response time at all...

I'd suspect the guy is making up the 11ms.

BTW, I am no expert at LCDs, but I've used a Viewsonic VX900 with roughly the same specs and it seems fine for all around use. The guy I know with the VX900 plays some games with it, and does lots of internet stuff, and it looks fine all the time.

Argh, maybe you're right. It can't be that low. If it wasn't for the fact that my rad-5 is jacked up, I wouldn't be considering this so mych at the moment. What time does CostCo open in CA tomorrow?

Costco opens at 8am tomorrow and you shouldn't have any problem getting a coupon. Even if you don't get one, the cashiers usually have one that they'll scan for you.

Sorry for the question. but why do you even need a coupon? Isn't the real challenge finding one in stock? Everyone is going to be lining up early in the morning and I bet each store will have 15-20 MAX. It seems to me that the coupons are just a mere technicality. I am sure if you can get the LCD in your hands, surely someone will give you a coupon.

Has anybody confirmed how many monitors the SF Costco on 10th has, and whether they actually kept em in the back until now?
