Envision 19" LCD monitor

I work at Staples and I just put this on Clearance. Normally it goes for $599 (amazon.com) It seems like a pretty decent monitor. Here are the Specs. It may or may not be on display I did look it up in our system and saw that some stores have it still in a box. You may even get a manager to take 10% off the display (if they're really nice). BTW...If they dont have it..ask for whats called "save our sale" and get them to ship you one from another store.

It plays the DVDs in store quite well... but besides that I have not seen any real high action VPU intensive games.

The response time is 25ms, so it should be fine. I currently have an NEC 1545V which I think also has a similar response time and they games I have (Medal of Honor, Unreal Tournament, Battlefield 1942/Vietnam, Quake III) look fine on it. Don't know if it has anything to do with my videocard as well or not (9800 Pro), but I'm pretty happy.

I picked up the floor model today, manager wouldn't give anything off but 399 is a great deal, it had a dead pixel and a small cut in the screen, so I took it to another Staples and they found a brand new one in the back, traded me for the other one and this new one has a dead pixel right out of the box, I'm rather bumbed, as I was hoping for a good monitor, haven't decided if I am going to keep it or not. I played America's Army and there was no visible ghosting, so it seems to do allright with games so far...you can't beat the price for a 19" lcd monitor with DVI.

The dead pixel is really strange as it is fine with every color but blue(it shows up black on any blue color).

The deal is definately National. When Staples puts something on Clearance, its all over. Our system shows $399. They must be really lazy, and didn't do their price changes. (Of course it is Back to School Season, and its a living hell.)

Before I drop $400 on this thing, are there any other deals for a LCD monitor that I should be taking a look at?
I don't do a lot of fps gaming, but I do a lot of movie watching and mmorpg gaming. I'm curious on what other people that have gotten this monitor have to say about it too.

Damn -- just checked the closest Staples, (Upper West Side NYC) and no luck.

I've heard really good things about Envision LCDs, and I was ready to pick one up, but I'm not ready to spend all day hunting (like was wortwhile with that $230 officemax one the other week.. curses). $399 is hot, though, IMHO.

I agree with jjm on this one. At work we use Envision CRT monitors (not my choosing) and they suck. The one I am on right now has horrible geometry problems that can not be fixed using the monitor controls. It also has either very bad or no anti-glare. The specs on it look good on the LCD though. You may have more luck with them, but I just dont trust Envision.

I purchased (2) two 17" Envision LCDs from Staples well over one year ago, and use them 5 days / 8 hours a day w/ dual monitor setup. Not one problem, they are great monitors.

Nothing at 5 of the east midtown Staples either. I have a 15" Envision LCD that's been in use for around 4 years. Nothing fancy, but it's been solid and reliable and continues to have decent color &amp; clarity. It's outlived like 5 PCs. I believe I got it for around $300 or so AR at Staples back then.

EDIT: Maybe 3 years? LOL. I can't remember when I bought it. The old cranium hard drive is a bit full these days. Needless to say, I've had it for a while.

I constantly use an Envision 17in LCD I purchased 3 years ago. It has been excellent for text and games. I did have to RMA it to Envision in California within the warranty period because the backlight started to flicker. The service was quick and excellent - I was surprised that the service was so good for a relatively cheap and 'noname' LCD.

Anyone having any success with this sale?
I've been trying to get one for about 2 hours now, but unfortunately I keep getting the same "this item is out of stock" from customer reps on staples.com, and when I go to one locally they say that there aren't any in the nation left.

Kinda sucks they're lying to you. I know for a fact that some stores still have them in.

I went to our local Staples first thing this morning but the monitor was OOS. I asked the manager about the "save our sale" program and he promptly located one for me and is having it shipped out (should be here Friday he says). They are scarce but they available in some stores.

After going to two stores locally, I've found a display model. However, after asking manager for discount (and got denied) and the thought demo are usually on as long as the store hours, I decide to pass this on. This is a great deal for those who can get additional discount on store model or for those who can find an unopen ones. Besides, it seems the 19" lcd screen will be drop up to 20% by end of year. Good luck to those who needs it now.
