Episode II looks like trash

I just saw Lord of the Rings the other day and the Episode II trailer preceeded the movie. All I can say is that the movie looked like a flaming pile of dog poo. WTF is up with the love story? Doesn't Lucas know that he can't create fascinating, deep characters and should just focus on the plot and action? I think Episode 1 proved that the guy is a poor director and writer, but it makes me sad that he has so horribly ruined one of the great cinema franchises ever. Oh well, at least I will save myself ten dollars by not seeing it.

Agreed. I will certainly see it in theater. I think it will be a "pretty darn good" movie, but definitely not great, and not fantastic like the original ones were and this one SHOULD have been if not for Lucas's new found love with being a jackass.

Did I ever say that I was in love with Lord of the Rings? No. It was a lot better than Episode 1, but I don't think it was one of the greatest movies of all-time. However, I have a lot more respect for Lord of the Rings fanboys than Star Wars fanboys, because at least they crack open a book from time to time. BTW, 4-6 were great movies, but the acting and dialogue in the Episode II trailer made me want to puke.

I barf on some of the comments made here...I can guess that most of you critics dont know that Star Wars isn't just a movie...it's a following....I saw Star Wars back in 1977 in the theatre and have followed the series ever since...

I agree that Ep 1 was the worst of the series but I still enjoyed it...never would call it the best but still enjoyable (except for Jar Jar )

Let's wait till Ep 2 comes out to start criticizing it for gods sake..

Where the hell do you think Luke came from? Why do you think Vader turned evil? It's all because of a woman. Personally , I think its going to be a good film. The thing people dont realize about star wars ep1, was that it was EXACTLY like the original 3, with amped special effects. Same 'corny' storylines, same 'corny' acting... TheKidd, have you ever seen Indiana Jones? Willow? American Graffitti? Radioland Murders? or are you simply basing your opinion on one movie that you may have not liked? Open your eyes.

 

TheKidd: There are many many star wars books. Never were you called a LOTR lover. And trmiv, respect and fan boy in the same sentence are an oxymoron.

It's a scifi flick, the dialog is supposed to be corny. People do not watch star wars for the shakesperian qualities.
