Epox 4G4A+: Anyone stable with >1 DIMM???

Although this board is getting great reviews, has anyone tested this board at say 150mhz with 2 dimms? What about 150 with 3:4 with 2 DIMMS.

I am concerned of another abit syndrome - stable with 1 dimm but falls apart if I put in 1Gig

I am stable with one 512 MB Corsair PC3200 DDR-RAM chipset running in DDR333 mode.

i'm stable with 2 DIMMs... the key to know is...

in bank1 , you can have a single-sided or double-sided DIMM

in banks 2-3, you can only have one doube-sided DIMM, or one single-sided DIMM, or two single-sided DIMMs.

you can not have the equivalent of more than 1 double-sided, or 2 single-sided, DIMMs in banks 2-3, because banks 2-3 are actually shared.

follow the mentioned rules, and you should be fine.

There is an update:

EPoX 4G4A+ BIOS Update Page

It says the BIOS date is 3/8/02, but when you flash it, the BIOS date will say June something on your system. Some people have found better overclocking success with the default BIOS, but you can always restore the old BIOS if you need.

no i dont think so. it's a physical issue related to the design of the motherboard. i dont think you can correct that with a software updade. IMO.

I think my board is stable with with two double sided RAM sticks on slot 1&2. I am running it 4:5 with 16X140, 1.6V.

funny how this issue is never brought up when people rant about their Epox boards. Most likely cuz everyone is using just 1 stick.

My 4g4a was fine at around 146 MHZ with 2 sticks of PC2400 DDR RAM in slot 1 and 2.

I'm now stable ay 148 MHZ with a stick of Corsair PC3000 CAS 2 XMS.

Obviously my CPU is the bottleneck. I'm pretty sure you will get a decent OC with 2 DIMMS. You'll just get a better OC with 1 DIMM in slot 2.

DocACE, I have the same problem with my GA-8IGX motherboard. I've found that in my system, with 2x256mb double sided pc2700 dimms, it's not stable at any non-standard fsb. e.g. ram fsb of 133 or 166 both are okay, but ram fsb of 135 or 168 are NOT. I thought this was a ga specific problem but if you're having this problem with the epox as well, i'm starting to lose hope! I have an abit bg7 that is "on the way" as well and I'm hoping that will solve my problem, as I know each of these sticks tests out fine to 190fsb.
