epox 4g4a+ pc3200 problem

hi i have an epox 4g4a+ (intel i845g chipset) and a 400watt fortronpsu

the mobo officially supports pc2100 and unofficial pc2700.

i had one stick of 512 pc2700 corsair xms in there and just replaced it with 2 sticks of 512 pc3200(ddr 400) corsair value select.

with the pc3200 in there, it doesnt detect as ddr400 and crashes within 5 minutes of booting up.

i have a 1.6a northwood at 144fsb X 16 = 2.3ghz

memory timings are on auto SPD.

i ran memtest86 for 8 hours without any errors on the ram.

when i underclock the ram, the system works and boots and is stable.

however i cant even get the pc3200 ram to stay stable at DDR333 or its stock ddr400.

is it b\c my mobo cant handle it?

can someone please give me some advice? maybe im doing something wrong.

btw.. at my overclock, i only increased cpuvcore .025 is this sufficient?

i really havent overclocked in ages and i am rusty.

please help!

Yes. I have that same mobo (well not the + version) and the highest it supports is pc2700.

yea but the thing is, this DDR400 wont even run stable @ 333 !

I have almost the exact same motherboard (4G4A) and the same RAM. I cannot get it to run at SPD timings at PC2700 either. I had a stick of Mushkin PC3000 memory in there and I am pretty sure that it would at least do SPD timings. It looks like the Corsair VS and the 4G4A(+) do not play well with each other.

any suggestions of what to do? my only option is to run the ram underclocked?

Get a new mobo or return the ram for another brand that will work with your old mobo.
