Hello everyone,

After reading here about the overclocking potential for the Epox 4PEA+, I decided to get one along with a P4 2.4B (533) and see how well they perform.

I will be putting these into a case with 5 fans on it (yes, a little noisy but reasonable none the less), an Antec PP412XFGB (400W) powersupply, 2 sticks of KINGSTON KVR333X64C25/512 512MB 32x64 (CL 2.5). For those owners of the 4PEA+, what do you think are the best suggested settings for overclocking this setup?

Thank you for your time.

Well remember that using multiple sticks can be a hinderance to ocing....Also try avoid using onboard stuff intially until you have thoroughly tested the cpus limit...

I would set ram to 1:1 ratio and timings to spd....

If you gate a C1 chip I would take it straight to 150fsb and start from there in 5fsb intervals...then I would run prime95 for an hour or a loop or 2 with memtest (set to Thugsrook's recommended settings)...if it passes move up 5 more...if it fails them boost vcore up a notch (+0.025v)...do this until you hit a 1.7v maximum...also check to make sure voltage set to in bios is what is actually delivered....I have had the 2 previous epox mobos ahead of yours and I can tell you epox usually undervolts but the last chipset i845g it is only .02v for me....So you likely are pretty close to that or even with what is set in bios...check anyways though.

Once you have hit that limit then run a good 5-6 hour prime95 and/or 10 loops of memtest...if it passes great and if not then go down 1-2fsb and try again...since you would have already tested it for 1hr before you liklely would only need 1-2 fsb to dial it in to pass the 5-6 test...

I had this board and it is pretty good for overclocking.

I did not have any issues running 2 sticks with this board and using the 3:4 divider to run mem at DDR400

Here are some suggestions:

1. Upgrade the BIOS to the latest, If you have a newer board, it should give your both 3:4 and 4:5 dividers with your 533fsb chip
2. Load Fail safe defaults upon initial boot and load OS/software. Once everything is nice and stable, take a ghost image backup if possible
3. Set mem to 1:1
4. Lock AGP/PCI to 66/33

Adjust FSB to overclock. If you have 2.4B C1, most likely you can hit 150-160FSB.

Thank you for your suggestions everyone . Just got done doing the O/S install. Now to make a ghost image of the setup and then it's playtime.

Hi guys, i have the same board, i got one question.....
I just installed a 2.4 B 533Mhz on it, boot it up install software and all....
My normal temp is already at 44 C. with load of sandra or 3dmard2001 it goes to 49-50 C. is this normal?
i change my cpu chip to a new 2.4 still the same
changed to a new 4pea+ board same settings, increased my power supply from 350 - 400 watts still the same (ENERMAX)....
is there something wrong? am using a lian li PC 65 too....... i even got the new thermaltake CPU heatsink with 6000 rpm fan still same temp.
how can i overclock this if the temp at normal settings is like this? my board is rev 1.0 i have upgraded my bios too..

thanks a lot guys

It is for thermal take products....I get 39c idle with a 1.6@2.74ghz with 1.71v of vcore and 52c under heavy prime95 load...When I had a thermaltake before my alpha and high cfm low rpm and db fan I would get 48c idle and go to like 66c inunder load...ofcourse I dropped that crap fast....My cheap avc sunflower blew away that much more expensive TT hsf....

I would say reapply and check hsf setaing on IHS of the p4 but it didn't make and difference for me....it was just a poor transfer of heat...
