Epox 8K7A drivers CD - worth installing?

hello,

Is it worth installing the drivers that come with the 8K7A ? I'm talking about the AMD Miniport driver, VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Driver, and the HPT370 driver?
I installed both WinMe and Win2k and I have no question marks in device manager.
Would installing these drivers have an effect on performance?

yes, its very important to install motherboard drivers, you can either use the ones on the disc or download the latest ones from amd and via

The ONLY MB driver you need for the EPoX 8K7A is the AMD Miniport Driver. You do NOT need the via 4in1 drivers, this is not a via chipset motherboard.

actually you do need to install the ide driver because the southrbide is via... unless you want to use the ms one.

i dont know of any amd760 board that is totally amd, most every board ive seen has a via southbridge.

via 4in1 drivers auto detect what you have and install what is needed

I installed the VIA drivers from the CD after which I got the latest 4 in 1 drivers directly from VIA which uninstalled the previous drivers.

In Device Manager, under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers I have
Primary IDE Channel (driver provided by Microsoft)
Secondary IDE Channel (driver provided by Microsoft)
VIA Bus Master IDE Controller

Before installing the 4 in 1 drivers The Primary and Secondary channel devices were labeled as VIA.

Is this a sign that the 4 in 1 drivers didn't reinstall the VIA ATA/100 drivers?
