Epox 8KHA+ KT266a.. update 4in1's?

I'm using an Epox 8KHA+ with an Athlon XP 1700+.

For now, I'm using Win98se but will probably upgrade to Windows XP in the future.

I've heard that the VIA 4-in-1 drivers v4.35 were buggy. Which version is the best to update to?

if your 4-in-1's work fine as it is now, don't change them

I just installed XP last night on my 8KHA+, I installed teh latest 4in1s along with the new 4.10 AGP drivers, everything's working great! BTW, the 4in1s only update the INF file when you install them in XP, they don't install IDE etc..

Mark, I read somewhere in this forum tha one should only use the 4-in-1 drivers included with Win-XP. Is that no longer correct? Thanks.

I never read that, but now my system has yet to crash, I do'nt have that dreaded "infite loop" error associated with XP/nVidia Cards, and I'm also getting great performance. Besides the 4in1s ONLY install the INF update in XP, which is simply for ACPI, it still uses the built in drivers for the IDE etc.. Also I updated the AGP driver (4.10), since it also gave a nice boost in performance.

Running 98se, installing the 4in1's, my system takes a considerable performance hit. And there is basicly no way to get rid of them, you have format c: /q.

No problems without them. I suggest staying away from them like cryptonite.

Hmmmm. . . Different operating systems and different levels of success. Gives one pause to wonder.

You can either use the XP default Via drivers or install the latest Via 4 in 1 drivers,as already stated it only updates the INF files,I`ve installed all the latest 4 in 1 drivers and the new 4.10 AGP driver on my XP OS,if you are worried about it causing problems then don`t install them on the other hand if you have stability problems then they might fix your problem but the XP ones work very well.

I like to have the latest drivers so that`s why I installed them.
