Hey,

Just purchased a epox 8kha+ board (bios has a K sticker on it) and when i bootup it won't load the bootup CD that i have in the drive. When i try to go to the bios it will let me into the menu but when i press any of the arrow keys i cant move anywhere, its completely frozen and i have to restart.

I dont get any LED error codes, it just says 7F..

I've tried unplugging everything so that I only have the CPU, CPU COOLER, and PCI video card plugged

I have a generic 300W power suppply..

Someone please help.

hmmm...

your CPU may be overheating causing your computer to lock up in BIOS. this happens to me in the summer time when my room reaches million degrees. Check to see if you properly mounted the heatsink. An improperly mounted heatsink will cause the CPU to heat up really quickly causing the computer to lockup after a few seconds.

I'd also recommend getting a 350Watt PS. Thats what I hear you need to run the EPOX 8KHA+ smoothly.

also check to see if your keyboard it plugged in all the way.

keyboard is fine.. i've tested 5 different ones that i have in my house and none are working.. well they work fine until i go into bios.. the numlock, capslock keys will flash green showing that keyboard is detected.

i'll try remounting the heatsink..

i'm also picking up a enermax 431W psu in the hopes that this will fix my problem.

thanks again for the suggestions!

Do u have any variable speed fan connected to motherboard. If so that may cause problem! What kind of hsf fan do U have? If its variable speed that is causing the problem.

Hey,

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions..

Here are some updates.

The fan i'm using is a Volcano 6 7200 RPM cpu cooler.
Shouldn't be overheating cuz when i bootup the computer and the PC health comes on temperature is usually at 30

I've upgraded the PSU to a Enermax 450W and still the same issue.

How would i go about resetting my ram??
