I finished installing windows XP and some software on my epox 8kha+ and now the computer will suddenly reboot, without warning. This sound diffrent than the rebooting problem that everyone else seems to have. The board reboots fine, just suddly and without obvious reason. The specs are
1 ghz athlon 266fsb retal
2 sticks of 2100 ddr 1 samsung/1 micron
300w powersupply...deer or something...came with cheaper case...may be unaproved
2 hds wd and maxtor
hp cd/rw 4x4x24
iomega zip...
any ideas ?

What bios are you using? try to update it if you havent yet, that ps might have something to do with it also, if bios update dosent fix it then you might need new ps, same thing happen to me when I was using 300 w ps changed it to a AMD approved 340 w everything is fine now. If you decide to update bios unplug all the things you dont need extra Hd/cd/etc so you dont get a reboot in middle of update

First thing to do is check your voltages. Particularly the +3.3 and +5v, as well as the core.

Your 300W supply might not be cutting it.

Things that I have found to cause random reboots on my 8kha+:

1) running the latest nvidia ref drivers (what's it now, 23.11 or something). Supposedly the absolute latest 4in1's from VIA solve this but i haven't tried it yet
2) running some kind of software cooling program. vcool, for example. Or using wpcredit to modify the cooling bit...

hope this helps.

I installed the latest VIA 4.37a and my system got
totally screwed. Crashes in DFLandWarrior and random
hangs in Win2k and Office97 is irritating the heck out of me.
I'm going back to the VIA 4.32 that came with my 8kha+
since the later versions include things that I don't need
according to the readme.
I'm running Nvidia's driver for 22.8 which might not
be the totally stable either.
