Im was lookin at Nforce2 boards and the epox comes up cheaper than the abit and the asus versions. I currently own an epox kt133A board at its pretty stable, fast, and has decent oc capabilites.

How does the 8rda+ compare to the abit nf7-s and the asus a7n8x in terms of ocability, stability at 200fsb, and general features.

Thx

The Soltek SL-75FRN-L is a board you should consider, it can be bios flashed to allow vdd adjustments of 1.6v-1.8v via the bios no need for physical mods. It also performs just as well and in some task slightly better than the Epox plus the A1/C1 chipset is already appearing on them. Mine does the max 211FSB easily and it's a great overclocker all around. It's a few dollars less than the Epox as well, just another option for you to explore

What is the difference between the 8rda and the 8rda+ except the lan controller? I have a ethernet card already and dont really need this.
Is there a difference in their bios's, oc abilities, or major board layout differences?

EPoX Boards with a + usually have a few improvements, either chipset, board layout or by adding some new features.

I dont know what the case is with the 8RDA+, I only know about my 8KHA+ and the + in my case was worth the extra cost.

You won't really find a difference in the OC ability, what's different is the network controller, better 6-channel sound (Soundstorm certified, minus the SPDIF output), and onboard Firewire. There's likely something else but I'm forgetting.

8rda+ is a great board...

the new abit nf7-s v. 2.0 is also a great board as well

it has a lot of bells and whistles if that's what you're looking for... or else the 8rda non-plus is prolly for you.

Sorry for all the questions, but heres another:

Ok the 0307 cores are stated as Tbred "b"'s on excalibers site, but the 0310's are not. Arent those also "b"'s??
and which core is better, the DL3TC, or the DU3TC????

I use the 8rDA (non + version) and love it. While the extra features are nice, I just couldn't justify the price difference, especially since I knew I was going to use my TB Santa Cruz over the onboard sound.

excaliberpc shows the DLT3C Tbreds as being JIUHB Steppings.. therefore those are Tbred "B" revisions. The only differences with the DLT3C and DUT3C is the voltage at which the processor defaults on. "L" defaults to 1.5 volts, "U" defaults to 1.6v. The newest Tbred B's are the ones with "L" and overall, are currently one of the best overclocking cores right now.

i have a abit NF7-S, but if i were a hardcore OCer, i think i would have gotten the Epox 8RDA+. top notch board and everyone loves it. can't you get that FIC board and it is virtually the same though, saving a few more bucks?

Quote from AnandTech Article:

The Editor's Choice Gold Award for best value motherboard goes to the Epox 8RDA+. The combination of speed, solid features and a bargain-basement price are what makes the Epox 8RDA+ our Editor's Choice Gold Award for best value motherboard in the Athlon XP market. It doesn't hurt that the Epox 8RDA+ ended up overclocking the best out of any other motherboard. Value users should also be pleased with Epox's excellent tech support and RMA policy.
