ok, kinda urget. i installed microsoft net framework 2.1? or something like that b/c i needed it to install a engineering program. installed NET. worked normaly just fine. decided to reboot before install of graphics program. may or may not be related.....

get C1 error, no beep, no monitors etc. all fans running ok. HDD light stays soild lit.

tried removing all extra usb cables, speakers etc. no effect. removed 1 ram. no effect. tried inserting XP cd and reboot, no effect. if i start, get C1 error, then hit restart it will post FF but no beep

running 2x512 corsair sticks, amd processor i forget name. built it about 3 yrs ago. two HDD's one just backup

some of the capacitors (?) between CPU and onboadr sound hookups are all leaking yellow stuff (dried) heard this is a common problem and can cause c1 error.

if i buy a new EPOX 8rda and swap over everything exactly will it boot off the old c drive?

any help

Three options ,either send it to Epox for repairing or replace the capacitors yourself, last option is buy a new Epox board, yes should boot fine if you replace the board with same model.

Actually it should boot fine with most NF2 models as a replacement.

A few months ago my 8rda died and had leaking/bulging caps. I got an RMA from Epox and they replaced all the caps and sent it back. It cost me $6 to ship and they paid return shipping.

Works great again

well, EPOX proptly replied to my email. they gave me a RMA # and told me to send it in for free repair... im gonna take apart the pc and send the mb in this weekend

like i said i finally got it running, but that was probably luck and with those leaking caps it is only a matter of time till it goes out again

When my 8rda died ~4 months ago...I got a black screen, but the PC was running. I initially thought my video card died, but after opening the case I saw the bulging caps (~5 caps) located near the AGP port and the RAM dimms. I also got intermitten C1 errors and beeps.

Based on the above, I'd say your leaking caps are most likely the issue.

IMO.

I had a cap problem as well. I contacted Epox and RMA'd the board. It was back to me within 2 weeks. I put everything back together but for some reason I am not stable... probably something simple..... the board I got looked to be a refurb which I guess all of them are which is fine with me as long as it works.

I haven't ruled out that the leaking caps and increasingly unstable system may have damaged something else as well, We will see,.........

Good luck with that... if you decide the buy another socket A board i hear the 8rda6+ pro is a good one!!!!

finally got a chance to take the computer apart to send back. after i got the MB out of the case, i soon saw that about 90% of the green caps were buldged and/or leaking (badly)

the caps by the cpu, the ram, the pci card, the bios... the whole board. junk

hopefuly epox uses another brand of caps that last more than 2 years...

Yeah...the 8rda board they sent me looked brand new too. I believe they got a LOT of these boards back due to the cap issue and actually did refurb'em and sent them to peeps like us

I had an older board, like KT133 or KT266 era, and they still took it back (1yr out of warranty even) and just recapped the entire thing. I paid shipping there, and $7 return shipping. All caps over 1000uF were replaced.
