my computer was running fine this morning. it's not when I come home from work. !!

anywho, here's the situation: I've pulled everything out and reseated/plugged it all back in. I keep getting the "C1" error and the manual says it has something to do with the memory. I've tried every slot and a different stick that I know works. any suggestions? I just got the board about...a year ago.

I'm running an epox 8rda+, amd 2100+ rev b, w/ corsair 512 pc3200. if you need any other info, ask.

From the manual:

Detect Memory
- Auto-detection of DRAM size, type amd ECC.
- Auto detection of L2 cache (socket 7 or below)

Try resting the bios with the jumper

I had this problem before. Have you recently flashed the BIOS? If so, you may be screwed, unless you're willing to shell out on badflash.com

Otherwise, try clearing the CMOS by putting the jumper in the proper place. If that doesn't work, unplug the 20pin ATX connector from the mobo, remove the CMOS battery, and press the power switch. then place the jumper in the clear CMOS position. put everything back and see how it goes.

I haven't flashed the BIOS in a long time if ever that I remember. "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

and I unplugged the mobo and took out the battery, new error code: 25. manual says it's "reserved"...??

I built a system for a good friend with the same board, i have not been ever happy with the performance from that board and there are so many bios updates for it. I would see if you can RMA it and go with the Abit NF7 -S V2 its a way better board for the extra couple bucks. BIOS

yea I may look into that, but for now, I'd like to get the computer working again, I've got a ton of homework on it, not to mention the time it'd take to try to return the board, get a new one, and get it all working with the present OS install, et al. I don't have the time or patience!

Try removing all IDE devices...my epox 8rda+ was sorta finicky and wouldn't boot if my cdrw was hooked up.

looks i'm not the only one now... was working on mine (same everthing except the memory) and went to go eat, came back and the thing is dead. Also had error code C1 and 26 and a few others. swapped out the processors and it cam up far enough to show something wrong with the voltage regulator or system temp monitor. dunno... tried the processor out in a different board and it worked fine. Replacing motherboard tomorrw.

C1 is memory error code, whether it's your RAM stick, or CPU cache. Another possibility is electrical (voltage) failure...

You should be able to install the NF7 and have it work with your current OS install. I went from an Asus A7N8X Deluxe to an NF7-S and didn't need to format.
