FedEx showed up with mine today. It looks like brand new in the box with all cables, manual and CD. It is a revision 2.0 and has the "U=" on the bios silver sticker. Next step is to find a deal on a processor. If everything works this was a fantastic deal.

Okay everyone I need some info if you would be so kind. I noticed on the last PCI slot there is a silver reflective sticker that says "Phoenix Bios d686 bios". The Bios itself has a "U=" marked on it's silver sticker. Is yours like that? if so, during bootup does it say it is Phoenix or Award bios? According to the manual it should have an award bios. I don't have a processor to boot up and check so I thought one of you might enlighten me.

What the difference with the bios (u+, U=, N+)? I just bought one and was wondering which one was better or does it even matter? Where do you check to see which one it is? Do you think a 300W PS (High Power 300W-HPC-300-101) is strong enough for this MB and a XP 1700+?

Got mine! Has a N+ and all 3 cables sealed, manual, cd, usb connector, looks new! Fingers crossed!! Got a XP1700 boxed for it. Will start stock and then read up on OCing it. PM me any suggestions for OCing this bird. Thanks!

Edit: It Works! Is the best and easiest way to overclock by way of the chip modification to change the multiplier or the FSB approach, or doesn't it matter? Would like to hit 2000... This board was really a nice find. Thanks!

There are only two BIOS stickers - either N+ or U=. There is NO difference whatsoever in stability between the two, it only implies when the BIOS chip was created (allegedly). I have N+ and it's all good. This is the best deal for a KT266A motherboard right now.

Got mine!

Also, "U=" BIOS sticker. All cables, manual, CD, etc were included in like-new condition. I even got the USB expansion cable, so I have 4 USB ports (if this was supposed to be there, I wasn't aware of it)!

The board was a return, though, becase when I took the fan off the Northbridge, there was dust on the underside of the heatsink. I cleaned it off, applied ASII, and am now waiting for the DDR ram I ordered.

...... PLEEEEEEEEEASE COME TOMORROW!!!!!

Well mine has been running for 3 hours now. Got a 1700+ running at 2000+ (1.66ghz, 12.5x133)

been running sandra burn in and cpuburn, so far everything looks good.

Only thing I don't like about this MB is you can't control the speed of the fans. with my "old?" MSI K7T266pro, I could control the speed of the 3 fans via fanspeed. It appears fanspeed doesn't recognize the HW monitor on this board, (winbound 697) and speedfan isn't working right either. Oh well. My panaflo L1A's aren't that loud anyways. with the 4 L1a's running, it's still quieter then the fan from a stock AMD HSF.

This is a project PC I'm putting together for a very picky (but rich) friend. He wants the fastest, but also the quietest.

Nice deal on the epox board!

Mine looked new, was packaged with all accessories and cables. Other than the box, which was generic, it was indistinguishable from the new one I got from Newegg in December. Worked flawlessly.

Goog40 asked me to post this question for him (sorry I'm so late doing it):

I got my board today, it appears to be new, but one of the parts sticking out from the mobo(?, not sure what its called) was bent, probably during shipping, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and should I RMA the board. Right now, I don't have all the components to test the board. I have a pic here:

Goog40

The is my answer to him: Every one of the epox boards I've worked on, has had that component (I don't know what you call it) bend around several different ways. As long as all the legs are attached to the motherboard, you shouldn't have any problems with it working ok.

Goog40: I believe that component is a power transistor. It most likely regulates the power going to the two LEDs. It shouldn't matter that it's bent, as long as all 3 legs are connected to the board and not touching eachother (or any other metal wires/pins on the board) it should be fine.

Mine was not bent, but I've had other boards (MSI usually) that did have components similarly bent and they all worked fine.

Well after 6 hours of running cpuburn, my cpu temp got up to 54 degrees, and my 5v line all of a sudden dropped to 4.7v (enermax 350watt) and the system hung. (core volt droped to 1.65)

I upped the core volt to 1.775 in bios, and now it reads 1.74 actual volts, and ran cpuburn again. this time after 12 hours, system is still running fine (I'm typing this from it). 5v line fluxuates between 4.7 and 4.81, core fluxuates between 1.7 and 1.78.

For some reason win XP can't seen to to find the power management features of this board. It won't let me go into suspend, standby or hibernate. Only choices it gives me is restart or shut down.
I think I might need to do a fresh install. I just replaced the MB yesterday without reinstalling the OS.

I replaced a 8HKA in my server box with a 8KHA+. I also have a Enermax 340 watt PSU. One thing I did notice was that my 5volt line dropped from 4.97 avg under load to 4.87 with the motherboard switch. Although the system still seems to stable at the same speeds. Wierd

I had problems installing an OS on my 8kha+ board from newegg. The only way I could install linux
or W2K was to disable the USB ports. Anyone else having problems with the USB on this board.

This might be a really stupid question but how do I overclock on this board? I can't find any section of the BIOS where I can adjust the multipliers. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks.

RobSay: Enter BIOS, go to Frequency/Voltage Control. You should be able to access CPU CLOCK; CPU RATIO (multiplier); CPU Vcore VOLTAGE. Have fun!

Full retail here also. Cables sealed in bag, manual, ect. N+ written on the bios chip. Killer deal. As soon as my POS IBM hard drive comes back from RMA I will install this bad boy!

Quick question to those familar with this board, is their a simpler set up guide than the amdmb.com version. Just looking for basic information regarding required software such as patches, drivers, ect.

Thanks,
Ed
