That could bre true what you say, but I'll bet a lot of people never bothered checking the screw holes. I know I didn't until someone else brought it up. As far as the packaging, all the items in my box came in sealed bags also. I believe when they repackaged the boards they went ahead and put them in new boxes and threw in new cables, manual etc.

gil11542,

Can you give us an update on your board. I got mine without the "N" or "U" sticker on the bios, but have not install it yet
Thanks.

I've bought a lot of NEW boards and never did they have scratches from a "clamping fixture".

I worked in surface mount for a while building circuit boards, and it is possible to get scratches on the screw holes from mounting the boards on the solder paste screening assembly, or in the parts-placing machines. In most cases, the boards are mounted using the holes in the board or by using clamps on the sides of the board.

IshmaelLeaver,

That maybe true but if I bought a mobo advertised as new and found deep circular scratches around all the screw holes where a screw head had been firmly seated, I would return it.
These are refurbs.

Um, no. That's EPOX EP-8K7A+, with RAID, Motherboard. AMD-761 + VIA 686B AGPset. NOT KT266A

Well I have bought 3 of the refurbished so far an all have been great boards, not a problem with any of them. The last one I got this week did not have the cd with it but that is not a problem.

Back in stock...only 3 left though. I ordered one. I'm guessing these are returns from those who didn't like the refurbs they got. I hope this isn't a dissappointment.

I just got mine and the board is visibly damaged behind the top left grommet. It looks like some dumb@ss torqued this thing to death and breached the first layer of the PCB.
I called newegg and they said that refurbished means 2 things:

1) Returned because user did not want it anymore which means they are dumb enough to trust somebody that screwed the board too much and wants to return it.

2) Tested by the manufacturer and acceptable.

I don't mind getting a board because of reason 2 but reason 1 scares the hell out of me.
I didn't test my board as refurbished to me also means undamaged. There doesn't seem to be any reason why this should cause a problem but I'm not the type to take chances so if someone else wants to give it a go send me a shout at nino@purdue.edu otherwise it is going back.

Mine is the version 2.0 with the N+, but I've decided not to use it, so if anyone is interested PM me - I'll post it in FS/FT soon...

No U or N and definitely has a reboot problem and video problem. I try to boot and get a long beep and 41 on the counter( no video). Let it sit for awhile and sometimes I will get a picture and go into bios and set up. But when I save the bios and reboot I always get a long beep and no video. I am rma back and already have a rma number approve. Win some lose some. Good luck everybody

Deal is back alive everyone. Newegg has a new bunch in stock!! Good luck everyone.

Just placed my order for one, can't wait to receive it. I already have an 8KHA+ (Retail Epox 8KHA+ motherboard) system up and running. Will be trying to building an identical second system. Wish DDR memory prices would come on down.

my board's chipset fan is failing on me.
it's making this crazy loud noise.

i tried to remove it and readjust the seating...
but still the annoying noise is there.

any recommendations for chipset fans?

Newegg rocks. Just got an email back from their sales department where they adjusted the pricing on the Epox 8KHA+ motherboard that I ordered yestersday at $69.00 to $59.00

Sometimes it still pays to use personal checks/money orders.

A++ to Newegg for the price adjustment

i got a "N+", look new board. After install, the floppy disk fail ?? check the cable, the black connector just fell off! This is the first time i am able to break those cable connector. (all cables are new, from plastic bag) Happy to have one extra laying around.

Anyway, i get a problem, the system will hang if i go into the BIOS screen to check the CPU temp/fan speed (it will not response to any key after i go into that screen for a few seconds. But the pressing the Num Lock key will correctly light up-> not hang??).
And if i boot in dos (for format C:, etc) and i restart the computer, is it right that it will not continue on the boot process (it will not go to check the primary, sec....drive)? It stop there, and i can only press "del" to go into the BIOS. (is it some kind out of the design?)

I also got a few times when i reset, there is only a blinking cursor on upper left and a blue thick line on bottom. Look hang up to me.

Thanks. I do not test it out because i want to wait for my new CPU... and if i need to RMA it, i have to be quick....amost 30 days now.
