I can't seem to install AMD's CnQ driver. I tought I read something earlier in this thread about it not working with a certain BIOS or something, but I can't find the posts. What causes the error message when you try to install the driver? Thanks in advance.

How long has their website been down?

USA has been down for several days I think

Global wont work today.

Also they never responded to an email question I sent a few days ago.

I was all set to get this board, but their lack of support and lack of even a website is scary. I clicked the link for the manual also from this thread and it didnt work either.

Any one know the story with this? Its currently holding up my order, and now im looking around at mobo's again to replace this one which was my first choice.

Thanks.

Yeah, plain and simple, the MSI sucks compared to the Epox. Shouldn't need much more convincing than that.
Seriously though, check around some other forums, especially like XS and you will see the headaches people have gone through with their MSI, and to make it worse, their latest revs are even more problem riddled.
So the USA site is down.......big deal, you can call them if you need to.

LOL. That's the Magic "you passed POST" beep. If you don't get that, then you aren't booting.

I'm in the process of buying our kids computer hardware for Christmas. So far we purchased AMD 64 3200+ processor, XP-90 cooling, G.Skill 2x1GbZX memory. I'm looking at a 7800 GT video card, and am looking at this motherboard. In the Ultra review that Anandtech did it said one of the features of this board was the ability to increase the voltage of the LDT.

AMDZone just did a review today of the SLI version of this board and one of their con's was that the bios didn't offer this feature.

For you owners out there, is this function available? I'm not sure if they will ever use this, but I've read that increasing this can sometimes increase overclocking stability, and the plan is for them to overclock this system.

The EPOX USA site has been down since Oct 1 I believe. Checking Google's cached pages show the latest one was on that date. I was trouble shooting with their tech support at around Oct 10, and they said their site will be up in about a week, but apparently it didn't happen. THey mentioned in the email that they had problems with their T1 connection.

There is a screenshot of the bios page (I think it is the 6th screenshot).

I think I found the difference. The Epox manual has the page listed as the "Power BIOS Features", while the screenshot title is "Genie BIOS Setting".

Could there be 2 BIOS' for this board? Could Wesley have done the review with the Genie BIOS?

DKT, i rebooted my system and went into the bios just for you. i went through every menu and could not find a LDT adjustment. i have an ultra, so i can't speak for the sli. i do not believe there could be 2 different bios's. i think the manufacterer is the only one that makes a bios for their boards. i wouldn't let this sway you from getting this board.

Genie BIOS? U sure? The Genie Bios nomenclature is only found on DFI mobos. EPoX uses the Power BIOS tag, MSI uses Corecell, etc, etc, etc......

ok, i found the difference. that review is flawed. know why? they used the pics of the DFI Ultra-D's BIOS, not pics of the 9NPA+ SLI BIOS.

dumb reviewer lolz!

Hi Folks - quick question about "off" power setting and these boards.

I have a Microsoft Scroll Mouse with a big red light, on my old Dell when I turned off the computer the red light on the mouse went off as well. With the Epox it stays on (annoying) unless I turn off the PS. I set the Bios in Power Settings to turn on with the power button only yet the mouse still stays on.

Is there a setting I am missing?

Thanks!

Anyone using CnQ with this mobo? It lowers the voltage to around 1.18v on my 3000+, and drops the multiplier to 5 (from 9), but it doesn't seem to lower the RPM of the CPU fan. Am I missing something here? I know you can change the fan's RPM with SpeedFan and the SmartFan option in the BIOS, but isn't CnQ supposed to do it automatically?

One more question (I am sure not the last...)

I have the August Bios, there is a September Bios available on the Epox site that says "Enhancements & Fixes for this beta BIOS release: 1. Added EPoX M/B information to DMI."

What is DMI and is this bios now out of Beta? Should I flash to this newest Bios?

Thanks!

Thanks sgtdic and servo. Mwave has the boards for $93. I'm still surprised by the Anandtech review that showed that these boards have the LDT adjustment.

This is a great forum. Everyone seems interested in helping.

No. CnQ only lowers the voltage and multiplier, which lowers power consumption and heat production. You need something like SmartFan or Speedfan to then lower the speed of your fan.

If your CPU fan is attached to the motherboard via the 3 pin molex, your fan speed will also be reduced using CnQ.............thus Cool 'n' QUIET
