Epox or Asus

Hey every1
I am building my new system. I've fallen in love with the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium mobo; however after another thread of discuession i started the EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra is looking tempting.

Please give me all your feedback, experinces, opinions, bias, everything.

The system will be based on an X2 cpu (more than likely...its possible a Vience will be used iinstead but thats another thread), 2GB (2 x 1GB OCZ titanium ram), XFX 7800.

Biggest question... Do you plan to ever SLI that 7800?

If so, Asus hands down. I have a Premium and the thing is rock solid and I couldn't be happier. Not the best at overclocking but X2s don't OC very well anyhow. Asus is very good with the BIOS updates and for the Premium you pay, you get a very featureful board. I say ASUS!

Thanks free and kensai.... accutly the K8N Neo4 was the board i orgially had thought about getting... but a few people told me about the Asus and it seemed slightly better.

Asf or SLI configuratioin.... its possible... but not at the moment.... i am already spending about 3500 on parts and all with the first 7800, another 600 on a second 70oo is a bit much LOL>.. the 1 will be quite nice enought for the time being. Maybe in 4 to 6 months when the 7800 drops in price i'd add another as SLI.

OC's the X2 i know can be iffy, becuse of uneven contact with the heatspreader mounted over the 2 cores creating imbalances in cooling and all. But i figured i can tweak it out a little bit.

In regards to the ASUS, or the EPOX - which NF4ULTRA boards uses chinese capacitors?

What about the EPoX nForce4 SLI board? Still lower cost than that other one and I've heard that it may actually overclock even better than their Ultra board. It was also mentioned that it has no parallel port, though; although if you need one, you can just get a usb adaptor.

Epox.

Asus is good, no doubt, but their OCing ability is seriously questionable of late, & you are paying a premium (pun intended) for exactly what?
The Asus name?

The MSI Neo4 SLI (non-Platinum) is also a great choice, & it's like the cheapest good SLI mobo on Newegg.

The Epox, from what I hear, its a great board. Personally, I always use Asus boards in my systems, they are always rock solid. OCing isn't the first and foremost thing on my mind when I buy a motherboard.

MSI boards seem to be hit or miss, thus I would not buy one.

Go with the Epox, unless you plan on SLIing the 7800s, then go with the Asus.

Epox, but i urge you to get a Epox 9NPA+ SLI instead.........

i researched the Ultra right before i bought, and i ended up getting the SLI Epox because its the same exact board in everyway except it has SLI, and 4 phase voltage (instead of 3 on the Ultra) which results in better OC'ing
