EPOX or ECS?

Hey guys, I just got gipped by some ass trader. He sent me the board i ordered 3 months later... I had to buy RETAIL since he didnt get my stuff in time. Anyways now i have two mobos they're really similar in function, now i'm having trouble deciding between which one to use and which one to boot. ARG! One's the ECS k7vza rev 3.0 (its on a cool black circuitboard =^D )and other's EPOX EP-8KTA2L.

Any suggestions? Any experience with either? I'm Using them for a Duron 1.0 GIG proccessor.

Well since the Epox "L" board sports the KT133E 100-MHz-CPUs-only chipset while the ECS has the full featured KT133A (and runs XPs too!), I'd keep the latter, just in case you need the CPU headroom at a later point. I used to use that board before the K7S5A was available, and none of the units have let me down so far.

People are sometimes wrong in their assumptions too. Epox can be an overclockers friend on some of their offerings but not on all. ECS is not meant for that market. ECS outsells Epox by a LARGE margin. Maybe people "say" things in different ways; like market share. Just a thought.......!

ECS always, nobody knows that you'll have Athlon 266MHZ FSB or even Athlon XP in the future... EpoX 8KT2L can support only 200MHZ FSB and anyway it's also non overclocking mobo, same thing to ECS K7VZA.

The KT133E is 99.9% guaranteed to run at 133MHz. Go with the Epox, ECS is low budget junk aimed at bottom-dollar PCs.

Man, this gets old! Not sure if you had a bad experience with an ECS board or what. I've had bad experiences with an IWILL and an ABIT board but that doesn't mean the are "low budget junk". Try to get over it; those things happen with any board manufacturer. You might see a few more ECS complaints but that is because they sell "head over heels" more than most other brands. Do the math. The %'s are the same or better than most.

Hey Scrooge, relax. I gave you the technical background in my first answer. KT133E is for 100 MHz CPUs only. OK, it overclocks better than the original KT133 and thus might reach 133, but you have a board with the official 133 MHz chipset KT133A right there in front of you.
