EPOX or Iwill

Which board should i go with to overclock a 1.4 ghz athlon??? Is it just a matter of which one you preffer?

Epox 8k7a seems to be the board of choice for most...........

I'm currently running a 1.2/266 at 1.33 on the 8k7a

no lockups and my cpu temp is 33 degrees

I have both boards sitting here and I actually prefer the Iwill. I know I'm in the minority but so be it. If I have anything plugged into the Epox parallel port the computer will not boot. Also, there is a USB issue with the Epox that I could not resolve with my Netgear NICS. There are several people with the same problem and Epox is aware of the issues, but so far no fix. That being said, if your main importance is overclocking the Epox seems to be the board of choice.

I bought an Iwill, but haven't been able to test it, so with that in mind, I vote Iwill.

The Iwill KK266 is rock solid for all athlons and durons. Especially running Win2K you will never ever see a true crash. It overclocks well too, not like the Epox and Gigabytre boards, but well. Epox's EP-8K7A is supposed to be great(DDR) for overclocking as well.

I have to say I like my Iwill besides the VIA problems with SB!Live cards and the godawful things you have to go through to get RAID to work as a regular IDE controller. Its EXTREMELY stable (Ive yet to have a crash that I need to restart from, in over a 2 weeks) and quite speedy too

I vote for the Epox 8K7A. I occasionally have the same problem with the parallel port thing, but it's only a minor annoyance. I really should just buy a USB cable and plug my Epson 740 in that way, but I'm just lazy (and cheap ). The 8K7A is very stable and will beat out the Iwill KK266 board because of the DDR memory. Overall, it's a great board for the money ($135)!!

definetaly want to go ddr,
so looks like epox. Has anyone heard anything about the new epox based on the K226 Chipset?

Stick to the 8K7A - it's based on the AMD760 chipset - still the best of breed available.

Go with EPoX. But check the board revision. My board doesnt work with Parallel cable connected. Or change your system power supply to 'SPI' or 'Seventeam'.
