Is this a good printer for normal color printing or for the money do you recommend a comparable unit. It is $149 after a rebate.

Thanks

THis printer has gotten very good reviews by many people. Some folks though, just don't like any kind of Epson printer because of possible head head clogs. Not a problem if you use the printer at least once a week. This is supposedly very close to a photo printer. I have one and am impressed with it.

The C80 is a VERY good printer. It has gotten excellent reviews - it was rated BestBuy by PC Magazine. I'm a big supporter of Epson printers. I have a 740, my son a 640, my Mom a 540, my Mom-in-Law a 480. The nice thing about Epson's is that you can buy generic ink cartridges for them. I know Epson says (and people who don't use them say) that generic ink will ruin your printer. Not so !! If you get quality ink cartridges from a reputable place, you will have no problems. I have used generic ink in my printer for years, and all of the ones I listed, and I have NEVER had a problem. I buy my ink from WebSourceSales (www.websourcesales.com - FREE shipping over $35 order). I can get a 2pak (1 color, 1 BW) for $12, rather than pay $50 for Epson cartridges. The C80 uses separate tanks. They run $12 each at WebSourceSales, rather than $20 for Epson. Hint: get the C80 from Staples and use a $20 off coupon as well as the rebate to get it for even less.

ROJAS,

Hold off for a week before buy an Epson C80 as the rumor has it that OfficeMax will be running a special on these and the C60's the week of the 21-27. Last I heard, after mail in rebate ($30) - online coupon ($20) - and OfficeMax gift card ($50), it is going to run around $79 before tax. But remember, the gift card has to be used on future purchases at OfficeMax. Just rumor but it's worth the week wait.

The only problem is that my OMax store does not even have these to run the ad. I just hope they send me more. I never have enough for daily sales.

I have the C80 at home. It has very good print quality and for the money it's not a bad deal. My biggest complaint about it (and most Epsons) is the amount of time it takes to actually start printing. When you turn it on, it goes through the usual gyrations of priming the printheads. If you haven't used it for a few days, it takes even longer. Very frustrating when you're in a hurry! I'm also not fond of the amount of ink Epson printers use during routine priming and cleaning cycles.

I have the HP 990 Cxi at work and this printer has somewhat spoiled me. It starts printing almost immediately and also has excellent output. It does cost more money, but if I had to buy another printer for home, it wouldn't be an Epson (unless I did nothing but photo output).

its interesting to see this deal is not locked yet. Mod is not here around.
i think OM does has the $50 gift card for next week. Check the rebate form for this week on C60, search their rebate list or get a copy from the B&M. and if u order online, there should be at least a $25 off $100 coupon (not $20). Hope it clear up.

I am turned off by the need of chipped ink of 777. Is the C80 and C60 is a chipped one, right? means no refill kit. They run out of ink quick and use lots of ink to initial when power on.

The Epson C80 is probably one of the best valued printers on the market. But, like fishbonez, I always liked HPs because of their dependability and quietness. This is the printer to get if you're patient with photo prints. But for anything else, I'd go with any HP 900 series.
