Saw this a techbargains...

Link

It doesn't have "780" listed in the title, but if you click "see more views or colors" right under the pic, it shows a zoomed in view of the model # - it's the Photo 780.

Anyway, use the $15 off new customers coupon thats out there & you're golden. Got it for $63.50 shipped.

btw - this is one of Epsons 6 ink photo quality line - ie, 870,875dc,820, etc., etc. They're all roughly the same _excellent_ quality, but vary in features/speed/noise/etc.

Have fun!

Excellent find...I just ordered it with the $15 off $20 coupon you said was out there......Got it for $53 + $9.95 shipping...still a great price, since my old Espon Stylus Color II just ran outta ink, and it would have cost $53 to buy both a color & a black for it, this is just as good, as I get an upgrade for almost free.

Thanks for the post.

The price for this printer has dropped to 54.50 and shipping dropped from 9.95 to 4.95 and with teh 15 dollars coupon it will be less than 45 bucks. That's a hot deal.

Good deal if you are one of the lucky ones who doesn't wind
up with the heads continually clogged. Good when they work, but
after my experiences with an Epson, NEVER AGAIN for me.

$54.50 - 15.00 + 4.95 + 2.67 = 47.12. About the price of an Apollo and this ia a top notch photo printer giving you edge to edge 4" x 6" photos. How is this not blazing hot?!!!

ajf3,

I called them and ask for the refund and they credit my credit card for the difference in the price ($14) but not the shipping.

I just tried too and the CSR said 'No' because the item is now on sale and that the coupon is not valid on sale items. So, the net effect would be the same. The website does not have the item listed as a sale item but the computers do. I tried to re-order the item and it would not accept any coupons that were not valid on sale items.

Maybe I should try again with a different CSR?

I just ordered mine for a Grand Total of $44.45. This is FLAMING HOT! I am panting from all this heat.

FYI here are the specs for the Epson Stylus Photo 780 from CNET:
Technology Ink-jet
Printer output type Color
[*]Max resolution (b&w or color) 2880 x 720 dpi
[*]Printer speed 8 Pages/min
[*]Max document size 8.25 in (A4) x 11.7 in (A4)
[*]Max media capacity 100 sheets
[*]1 year warranty

It got a disappointing 53% out of 90 votes.

Got it at the newly reduced price! Coupon worked for me too.

Using it to replace a Lexmark/Kodak PPM200. That PPM200 refurb from compgeeks never worked for me. :disgust:

Is this model one of those Epson has "fixed" so that you must use (buy) the genuine Epson Ink refills instead of much cheaper 3rd party refills?

Yup, sure is. They have a chip on them so they can't be refilled. Someone on E$ay sells a programmer for the chips, but it's like $40. I've got the printer sitting here in front of me (bought a year and a half ago). Genuine Epson carts are in the $20-$25 range. Generics in the $10-$15 range. IT CLOGS ALL THE TIME UNLESS YOU USE IT EVERY DAY!! The price is so good, I think I'll get one just for the carts.

Anyone know if they are the full carts, or just the starter ones???

Those reviews on CNET hardware were pretty wicked!!! I think I am going to do some serious analyzing of printer reviews before I bite. When you think about it ...the cost of refills could be where you wind but dropping the bucks!
