Who here has frozen credit reporting from all three? I did Equifax since that was free. I'm not about to pay money, no matter how small it is, to "fix" a problem created by a major company.

I ended up buying a bunch of $50 strike january puts on EFX. So far up 50% but I'm shooting for 1000%+ by the end of october.

Apparently they knew about the hack since march and have been negotiating and trying to come up with the ransom since then. This company could go bankrupt... it's actually amazing how incompetent they are.

It may well pop up to 95 again tomorrow morning before the slide continues. The congressional hearings are on the 3rd of october and they will be pubic...and I believe that is when the stock will see bottom (or close to it). I recommend January or April expiry for more theta in case it falls even further. You can never have too much theta

Froze all 4. Been meaning to do it years ago, never got around to doing it. I didn't realize it's free in New York and that the process would be quick (took total of about 10 minutes).

Same here. In NJ it there's no charge to freeze. You just have to make a record of your pin someplace where you can actually find it a year or five later. So far I've used lastpass to record that sort of information and I've managed to keep track of it.

New articles out saying they knew about this hack since March, and it happened twice. Makes the insider trading look even more likely.

Also, that stock should be at $0 by now. I've seen stocks dive quicker for far dumber and less dangerous reasons. The stock market is a joke on us all.

Good fuck em. I hope you guys win. I honestly think this is comparable to the Enron scandal.

Let's be honest, they wanted to sit back - pay some dumb bitch with no qualifications as Chief Security Officer to basically sit there and do nothing... All the while they just rake in cash as banks consistently rely on them for valid credit data. Secure said data? NAH!!! Never.

You know how Arthur Anderson went down when Enron went down? Obvious reasons - if an auditor is willing to be so low as to try to sweep things under the rug then how can you trust them? I find this to be similar - who would trust these morons for accurate and secure data in the future? If I was a bank I sure as hell wouldn't. I hope they crumble to pieces.

They had a separate breach in March. This major hack went on since May and they knew of it since July. It's a mess all around. Equifax shouldn't be in business anymore.

It says I have to pay. Equifax should be paying the other credit reporting companies each time someone needs to freeze their credit with them. I have a feeling something along those lines will happen.

Now is the time to buy puts. It's somehow above 93 but it won't last.

As an almost complete n00b, how do I do that?

Do you have a brokerage? Assuming you are approved for that trading strategy (Long Puts) you open your brokerage, select the underlying stock (EFX), then select the calendar expiry (January or April), then select the strike price ($50) then you put in a limit order where you select the max price you're willing to pay per contract (in this case 1.05 - 1.15) and then you put in an order to buy the contracts (however many you can afford or would like to buy).

Yeah, have a brokerage with Vanguard. I'll check it out. Thanks.

Yea, I've been reasonably successful, but nothing huge.. Am too afraid of getting a bad burn. Especially in this day in age of corporations are people and too big to fail...
