Wow. These assholes are truly incompetent and vile. I might join you buying some puts on these asswipes.I ended up buying a bunch of $50 strike january puts on EFX. So far up 50% but I'm shooting for 1000%+ by the end of october.
Apparently they knew about the hack since march and have been negotiating and trying to come up with the ransom since then. This company could go bankrupt... it's actually amazing how incompetent they are.

Who here has frozen credit reporting from all three? I did Equifax since that was free. I'm not about to pay money, no matter how small it is, to "fix" a problem created by a major company.

Same here. In NJ it there's no charge to freeze. You just have to make a record of your pin someplace where you can actually find it a year or five later. So far I've used lastpass to record that sort of information and I've managed to keep track of it.Froze all 4. Been meaning to do it years ago, never got around to doing it. I didn't realize it's free in New York and that the process would be quick (took total of about 10 minutes).
can anyone remember a time when a company lost customer data and been hit with actual substantial fines or damaged business?

New articles out saying they knew about this hack since March, and it happened twice. Makes the insider trading look even more likely.
Also, that stock should be at $0 by now. I've seen stocks dive quicker for far dumber and less dangerous reasons. The stock market is a joke on us all.

Now is the time to buy puts. It's somehow above 93 but it won't last.
As an almost complete n00b, how do I do that?
Do you have a brokerage? Assuming you are approved for that trading strategy (Long Puts) you open your brokerage, select the underlying stock (EFX), then select the calendar expiry (January or April), then select the strike price ($50) then you put in a limit order where you select the max price you're willing to pay per contract (in this case 1.05 - 1.15) and then you put in an order to buy the contracts (however many you can afford or would like to buy).
I've been soooo tempted. I don't generally do options trading, but tempted. Now is the time to buy puts. It's somehow above 93 but it won't last.
Yea, I've been reasonably successful, but nothing huge.. Am too afraid of getting a bad burn. Especially in this day in age of corporations are people and too big to fail...i canceled my options trading a while ago, dont really care to go back
AFAIK, it was a legit spoof site set up by a researcher to poke fun at them.Don't know if this was already posted but Equifax had been sending people to a phishing site via their twitter feed - in response to the original hack.
As the article says - the hits just keep on coming
