Picked up three one of the Bowie, MD stores. One for home, one for work and one for my boss.

Thanks OP

FYI - For anyone who is going to get one, if you search some deal sites you will find a copy of an OfficeMax $10 off $20 coupon that is being honored at most OD locations. To late for me but might save someone a few bucks.

I went to OD to look at laptops and looked around for these.

There were two boxes on the shelf in the LCD monitor section with a clearance price tag of around $39, I grabbed both and they rang up at $23.04 each when I checked out.

Bummer... went to OD didn't find any.

I saw the 3M one though... seemed like a ripoff.

Picked two of these up at my local OD. I was actually surprised at the quality, mostly metal. These may not be worth $70-100 MSRP, but at $23 these are a steal. They should be fine holding any 22" LCD, my dad used one with 24" Soyo from OfficeMax deal this week, and it holds up fine, even if a little shaky.

This is not holding up my 226BW, whose spec sheet supposedly says 16.3 lbs. The swivel that holds the monitor just falls about 30º past horizontal, with the monitor up just a bit, all the way int a nearly 45º angle where the bottom of the monitor is laterally behind the top, and it's like I'm looking at the screen from the top. I can't tighten the hex screw that holds it either; any suggestions? This thing seems nice fi I colud get it to work correctly.

Which hinge isn't supporting it? The only one that I could conceivably see not strong enough is the push-button locking one (which I don't know how the inside is designed.) The hex nuts should be able to lock the other moveable hinges, particularly the larger hex nut hinges. If they don't, perhaps use some leverage on the hex wrench, or take the hinges apart and clean them with alcohol.

Applying LOTS of force (wore a glove and put my body weight into it) worked with the nuts that hold the two outermost swiveling hinges. It's working, and it's nice!

Now I need a heavier desk - this one wobbles, and it's exaggerated when I type and the screen shakes with it. Just a little bit, but...

Thanks, jjsole.

Sounds like the amount of force needed was roughly equal to what I used to get the same hinges on one of mine LOOSENED.

I think the push button joint has interlocking teeth, so it should be stronger than the friction-based joints.

I had to loosen them some too (thought I tightened the outermost L/R swivel too much), only to mount everything and find out it was too loose. It took almost the same amount to loosen; it just gave way faster.

But yeah, if you're buying and have a rather heavy monitor, make sure you tighten the two hinges nearest the panel pretty tight, almost so that you can't move it. It's easier when you've got a monitor on there for a little leverage.

Now that it's done, I'm liking it so far. And now that the monitor's off the desk, if I need more room, I can just push back the center speaker and my keyboard, and voila! More room, for say a book or some homework I need to work on.

If you can grab these for $26, I'd say go for it. I had to put some folded up sheets of paper between the grip on the back (my desk is a bit odd; it's about two inches thick at the edges underneath, but only for half of an inch deep) to make such that the clamp wasn't only clamping the table; it's now clamping on some table and some paper.

Oh, there's a few other things they included; namely, a way for you to mount it if you've got a hole in your desk (instead of mounting it on the side). They're calling it a "grommet" mount. *shrugs* Big thumb screws are included for attaching the monitor, as well as traditional need-a-Phillips-screwdriver screws. It's also possible to remove the middle arm (the one connected to the base) so if you don't need the length, you don't have to deal with it; but without it, you can't put your monitor far away from you (near the wall) and have it center, too, which I may want to do at some point.

Thanks OP!

I picked up three on Saturday AM... They were marked $59 but rang up at $23

Mounted three LCDs, my old princeton is heavy, so I had to tighten up the swivel points at the head. My Soyo 24 is actually lighter, but the leverage generated from the width is problematic. Either way it works FINE, desk is clear and displays are in Just The Right Spot

For $23 I am a happy camper.

I swear, last post, unless someone asks me something.

Mine here were marked at $50 with a lime green tag. I asked one of the ladies there this morning at 08:15 to price check and they came up on the computer as $23.

It says the item has been discontinued. Any chance these are still available [in the Torrance/South Bay/Los Angeles area]?

Not a statistically significant chance....but the only way to know for sure is to stop by or call them.

Thanks. That may be too far to bother with (I live in Redondo), but I appreciate the response!

Ugh, my table/desk only has a 1 inch lip. I can't seem to get this thing stably on there.

Cut a piece of board out like 6 x 1 inch. and put it inbetween the desk and the mount.

There are a few still around in the DFW area. I just picked up 3 at the $23.04 price. They were marked $51.02 on the shelf tag. Guess that's why but they scanned at the right price.
