Good riddance x2

I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did... he's got to be one of the longest-serving AG's.

This has been rumored for quite some time. He's a racist bastard that saw everything through that prism. Here's to hoping he ends up on the other end of the justice system before he leaves this earth.

He has come down on the wrong side on a racial issues (Martin court cases).

People may be seeing him as incompetent with respect to fairness (biased) on other racial issues. (Black Panther intimidation - Philadelphia voting)

Rush to judgement/publicity on other racial issues. (Ferguson).

Obama may need a scapegoat w/ respect to enforcement of immigration laws, etc.

I remember when people complained about Ashcroft. What happened? We got Gonzales who gladly supported what Ashcroft was too principled to go along with. Deja vu?

Probably going off to a prearranged job set up years ago by some defense contractor lobbyist as exchange for a lot of favorable legislation, policies and pork. Probably will also be the head of a legal department of some trillion dollar defense contractor for at least a 10x bump in pay, and his main job will be to grease the wheels so more taxpayer money can be funneled to defense projects that will never be built, or never work right, but the taxpayers will be left holding the billion dollar bills for. Sound about right?

The article surmised he might go back to his old lower paying job at the old law firm he worked for, LOL, that's never going to happen. But he will wait to announce his new job after his successor is appointed to avoid more controversy, no doubt.

Sad to see him leave since we know that the GOP in the Senate will make the confirmation of his replacement unnecessarily difficult like they do everything else.

Filibuster is goner. Maybe that's why he is leaving now, to get a replacement in ahead of the fall election.
Can't say he's been a good AG, since none of the people responsible for the financial crisis have gone to jail.

Because you can't arrest the banksters, too big to fail, ad nauseum.

But by gawd you better beat the living crap out of a homeless, barefoot, black baglady and arrest her for trying to cross the highway in stalled traffic. Which is not even a crime, last time I checked.

Because we have a bunch of spineless people throughout our elected officials who are beholden to the modern trusts. Too big to fail should mean big enough to bust up into smaller pieces.

I'm delighted to see him go, but I have no faith that his replacement will be any better.

Given that Holder argues a case for Obamas killing of citizens without trial. How much worse can it get?

This. The banks need to be split up and all investment activities totally segregated from commercial banking. There is unfortunately no political will to do so.

As to the AG leaving....good. He's fumbled more than his fair share of situations for a Cabinet level official.

They'll be held accountable as soon as those who gave us Iraq are investigated. Of course the Democrats have shown themselves to largely be Republicans, Obama is GWB II and Assad is the New Saddam.

There is no alternative.

Good riddance to the incompetent racist scumbag, but I agree that it's likely his replacement will be even worse, considering the idiots doing the hiring.

How's Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson sound as AG? Maybe Supreme Court Justice Eric Holder? That's how much worse it could get.

Yep, if you think Holder is bad wait till you see his replacement. :hmm:

I gained more respect for Ashcroft for not signing the agreements they were trying to force on him while he was sick in the hospital. Of course he "resigned" and they just put Gonzales who rubber stamped anything Bush wanted.

For what crime? If you absolutely require a scapegoat for the financial crash you could just as easily put the regulators on trial for allowing the real estate bubble to inflate as far as they did.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/sep/25/contempt-congress-case-will-proceed-without-holder/

Mr. Holder, is expected to announce his resignation later Thursday, and Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, said the timing is not accidental: A federal judge earlier this week ruled that the Justice Department will have to begin submitting documents next month related to the botched Fast and Furious gun operation in a case brought by Judicial Watch.

“I don’t think it’s any coincidence he’s resigning as the courts are ruling the Fast and Furious information has to be released,” Mr. Fitton told The Washington Times.

That's what I was just wondering. Ashcroft was hardly a gem, I was happy to see him go, but he looked like a million bucks compared to the lying, steamy piece of shit we know as Alberto Gonzales. Ashcroft may have been a narrow minded authoritarian with racist and religious biases, but he at least had some respect for his office and responsibilities. Maybe too much. Didn't he have Lady Liberty clothed with a shawl to spare people the horror of a female breast in plaster form?

Hope we don't get an actual gun grabber.
