Yea, geese are shitheads :^D

I like that about them though. I have tremendous respect for an animal that'll take on something vastly larger than themselves :^)

You respect this little asshole?

That doesn't count. That's like a midget toting an RPG :^D

An aquatic bird that, in medieval times, was used to find out if a person was a witch or not.

This stems from the very logical idea that if a person weighs the same as a duck, then that person is made of wood (because both ducks and wood float in water). And since wood burns (just like witches) then that person must be a witch, because witches are made of wood.

Therefore, the accused person(s) would be placed on a scale next to a duck, and if they balanced, the person(s) would be burned.

So, if she weighs the same as a duck, then she's made of wood. And therefore... A WITCH!

Your duck friend could be useful someday.

Most truly wild ducks will be at least leery of people. Perhaps the one you currently have visiting has been somewhat domesticated, or acclimated to human presence by hanging around a local pond, where people feed it.
I've had those beggars come up and steal food at picnics...

Careful, OP, that very duck in your pic turned me into a newt. I got better.

The French ones are the worst.

They steal your food, then hurl snide comments about it in your general direction.

G-less, lol, maybe it's because you're closing in on your very first Duck in that pic, but your face has the manic intensity of the well-scrubbed English schoolboy, angelic and evil all at once.

And as for your milky-white friend, well, every good boy deserves favor.

If they don't fear people, chances are one of your neighbors has been feeding them.

Note: Don't feed them bread, it swells in their stomach and prevents them from diving for food.

I don't think that's a wild mallard duck.

I think it's a Rouen duck. (aka Rhone duck)
It's a domesticated type of duck & would explain why it's relatively tame. They look a lot like mallards though.

edit: I decided it's too close to call. Tough to judge from that picture; the two are nearly identical. Regardless, Mallards are also sometimes domesticated.

Well after some more googling i totally can't tell. It's a young duck judging by the feathers falling out and the blue stripe... but that's about it.

I love ducks, we use to have a pet Rouen. He was the coolest. He was a male though, females can get annoying with the loud calls. The males just kind of walk around making quiet little sounds. They sure do crap a lot though. And for some reason ours loved our dog and tried to jump on its back and hump it all the time.

Ducks can be cool, just watch out for geese. Those things can be a pain in the ass literally. My grandma had some that patrolled the yard. They walked around in packs and would bite(pinch) you if they didn't like you.

We have canadian geese all over the place here. They wander around the office parks in big packs. If you walk up close to them they will start sqawking at you and maybe chase you.

What is really really annoying about dumb canada geese though is that they always like to cross the road single file, a hundred of them, across the highway at rush hour holding up traffic. I'm always yelling at them. If you can fly then WTF are you doing walking across the road. GRR!
