Error installing XP

Sorry about linking to my thread on another site, but I need to leave my house right now and I need to give this computer back to its owner at 5:30 today, so I need answers quick.

Do a complete format, I have found that to help from time to time. I would pull the nic and modem if you are getting hardware errors. Might even want to pull one of the sticks of ram as well. You could be having problems there even if your not overclocking.

Well, today I did a full format, and I pulled out the PCI NIC and 56K modem. There was only one stick of RAM so nothing to do there. It got all the way down to 13 minutes left, but again the green bar just stopped moving and all HDD activity stopped as well, but no error came up. So I rebooted, resumed the process at the 39 minutes-to-go point, and it somehow thankfully made it all the way through. I have no idea how. Then, however, when I was installing the ATI drivers, it rebooted on its own. It's a 1.4 GHz Athlon running at stock speed. So I changed the preset in the BIOS from 1400 to 1050 MHz, and it seemed okay after that. Maybe that was causing the problem while trying to install XP? Why would I have to DOWNclock it though to attain stability?
