Error Screen with New System

Ok, so heres the deal. I just put together this new system and all I needed was a Video Card. I ended up getting a BFG 6800, and I was a little to excited when installing the card and forgot to hook up the secondary power cord straight from the PSU. When I started up the PC I got one of the nice and friendly loud beeps and ended up having to switch off the PSU to get the system to shut off. Installed the cord, updated drivers and everythinhg SEEMS to work fine, but wait.

Everytime I boot my computer I get one fo those little "Send Report to Microsoft" windows, stating that some fatal error occurred. Secondly Everytime I try and log off my identity or shut down my computer, I get a blue screen saying that I need to uninstall/disable new hardware, run in safe mode, ect. because of a fatal error, and the computer automatically reboots. The Blue screen flashes so damned fast I can never read more than a sentance or two, and I've had to go through the process a couple times to fully read it (or almost fully, heh).

Just thought it may be a windows problem and I may need to format and re-install since I'm gonna need to for another stupid reason anyway, but if not could I have possibly hurt some hardware mobo, video card, psu?? Thanks in advance for any help.

One good tip I learned is that if you have a digicam or a camcorder, you may be able to just take a short video clip of your bluescreen error and then read it freeze-frame. If the system runs 3D-accelerated games without hangups, your card's probably fine.

Since you're going to reinstall regardless, you might as well. If you need any security suggestions, here are some.

Hmm I can try my digital camera but I dont have and type of cam. I'll try and restart a couple times to read it over again, it's been a couple days since I payed attention instead of just getting frustrated.

I got Farcry with the card and that seems to run reasonably smooth but kinda bumpy on very high. I don't know what the bench for a 6800 is in Farcry, I'm runnning 1021x768 4x8x if anyone knows an average and what the console command is for fps. However there is no "Major Hangups" it doesn't freeze and doesn't lag horribly so.

if you can use windows and it only occurs on a shutdown then you should be able to disable the restart issue. go into system properties (either in the control panel or right click my computer and click properties) and go to the advanced tab and on the bottom click settings under Startup and Recovery. in this dialogue theres a check that says "automatically restart" under the "System Failure" section, clear that check, and the next time it blue screens, the blue screen will STAY on the screen for you to document

Yeah thanks much man, I actually hit F8 at start and it gave me the option to undo the automatic restart so that will help alot. I do remember the message stating something like error in line b-00000120 or something, I'm not quite sure cause I'm at a friends house right now. Anyway thanx for the help guys, hopefully someone knows about the error and I didn't mess up my hardware. I am formatting my drive tonight when I get home so hapefully that solves the problem.
