it is hard to imagine living in such conditions, let alone escaping from them

normally i'm like TLDR by the 3rd paragraph, but this article had me gripped from beginning to end

neither of the escapees is a guard, but they do go out under a high-voltage electric fence

Nope. This story has also been documented on video about his escape from camp 14.

If china backed the Taliban or Iraq, we wouldn't have gone to there either.

There are always some bleeding hearts that feel the dictatorships can do no wrong.

Of course journalist that have escaped from NK also are telling similar stories.
And there is no way that NK would shoot people trying to leave the country.
