Escaped Assassination! (UPDATED w/ PICS!)

I arrived at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, CA last night, and picked up a cab for a ride to my hotel in Yorba Linda.

I was having a good time rapping with an overly-chatty taxi driver when out of nowhere -- BOOM! The rear windshield shatters into a million pieces, still hanging together as a flimsy sheet in the frame of the car.

The shatter pattern was indicative of a point collision on the driver's side of the vehicle. We had to pull over and call the cops, and since I didn't want to wait for another cab (it was the peak of rush hour on the 55 fwy) I had the cabbie continue on to my hotel to drop me off.

In all likelihood some punks dropped something from an overpass, or perhaps shot out the window with a pellet gun. We did not observe any actual bullet holes anywhere in the interior of the car. Still, it was quite a startler. I have a few really dark pics of the windshield on my phone that I can upload later when I get back to my hotel room.

Next time I'm requesting that the company provide me with transportation via motorcade in a limo equipped with bullet-proof glass.

Same kind of thing happened to my old manager.

He was in his car and driving down the highway with his wife and kids and "boom" his rear window blew out.

He said he looked everywhere after they pulled off the highway for any kind of bullet but couldn't find anything.

I was wondering if it was a stray bullet that some dummy had shot into the air...

Dude, the company gave me a stack of drink tickets for the El Torito. If you wanted to come by anytime this week you can have drinks on me. Tonight is Taco Tuesday, too. Usually there's quite a few young hotties running around with their douchebag guy friends in tow.

I don't think a pellet gun would shatter a windshield. Dropping stuff from overpasses sucks. :| People have died from getting hit by stuff dropped from overpasses.

Happened to some neighbors of mine from way back. I was probably about 6 when they moved away, so I don't remember them very well. My parents heard a couple years later that someone had dropped a bowling ball from a freeway overpass onto their car. 2 of the 3 were killed instantly, and the "survivor" was turned into a vegetable Ugh.
