I've been using this for years and I miss the old $11 deals around Christmas time (single-user only). This is better since now I have family members paying me $10 each for a license. Great deal for them and I'm making money!

Paying for AV software =/ hot deal.

You've been around long enough to know that your comment is considered thread crapping in HD.

With MSSE out there free he pretty much 100% correct.

For you to respond to a mod edit in this fashion is continuing what I thought was finished.

This can be construed as a moderator callout. An infraction/warning was given. If you have a problem with the moderator warning given to another member's post, create a separate thread in moderator discussions

The rules of Hot Deals are as follows:

If you do not like the deal, just move along a save your comments. If you can post a better deal on Eset antivirus software then post it

People who know the difference between MSSE and NOD32 think this is a good deal.

If you don't know the difference and prefer the former, then move along -- nothing to see here.

BS. I was building PCs before you were even born I bet.

Hint: there was no such thing as web pages then.

Wow! Aren't you special?

Answer this then, special boyo....if MSSE is so damned good, why is it continually outclassed in testing by the likes of ESET, Kaspersky, G Data, F-Secure, AVIRA (paid version, not the free version) done by such sites as AV Comparatives? MSSE always finishes a class down from the aforementioned group of pay-for AV suites in a wide variety of testing.

And as for other free AV software, none fares well in testing compared to the pay-for AV software. After all, as in the case of AVAST which has a free version as well as several pay-for versions, why would the free version work as well as the ones you pay for? The makers of AVAST aren't completely stupid and it wouldn't be in their best interest to have their free version work as well as the commercial versions of their software. If it did, no one would pay for the commercial versions. Thankfully for us that have been repairing computers for the last few decades, dependence on free AV software gives us a steady stream of income as the limitations of the free AV software get exposed on a daily basis.

But I'm sure you know better.....after all, you've been building computers since there were rocks, right?

No need to attack or insult him as it only added fuel to fire.

[edit] Oh yea, "Antivirus fanbois" LMFAO! What will they think of next?

1. This is a hot deals forum, not a personal attack forum.

2. If you need an antivirus so bad perhaps you might be hanging around the wrong places on the net.

3. Unless you can decompile and see what all these closed source apps are doing you really have no idea, you can only rely on "testing" done by sites that rely on advertising. Your argument is this so-called "testing" so you lose this argument by default.

4. How well do all these tested AV suites do in testing against 0-day attacks? That's right, the one main thing you need to be protected against in NOT defensible unless the user has common sense and a little luck. When you buy this garbage you are basically buying a "little luck". I think I'll stick with common sense and use the free one that works well enough, according to the "testing".

Now, go take your little temper tantrum and shove it *sshole.

That's enough

You need to stay out of this thread

You're clearly too old and set in your ways to get it then. Move along.

Is the paid version better? Undoubtedly, if you visit the known high risk sites, buy and use the hazmat suits; for most of us, MSSE is sufficient and we get along just fine. I have both on systems and just use the right tool for the job.

The voice of reason! Paid AV is best for some, free AV is best for others.

If you're one of the former, this is a hot deal and why I posted.
