Well you should be all glad to know the nForce should be out within the week. I just upgraded and got the epox 8k7a so knowing my luck it should be out soon.

eh? So its really gonna be out in a week or you're just speculating based on your bad luck?
No offense, but I hope your luck sucks hehe
<< You think nVidia is content only making chipsets for AMD ? Doesn't Intel still do a bit more volume? >>
More than just a "bit" more - try somewhere between 4-6X the volume, ie. INTC's volume is 4-6X that of AMD's.
As for ETA on nFarce, if motherboard mfgrs. aren't getting the chipset until late August or Sept., it will be at least October before mobos hit the U.S.
InQuest may be bad but the company that takes the cake is Gartner Group. They either state the obvious or skew the facts to their advantage. Any remember Y2K and how Gartner said it would cost "hundreds of billions" to fix and lead to "catastropic failure" in systems worldwide. Funny how they also sold consulting services of the same subject. I always laugh when sites like CNet goto them for "facts".
"I think Rambus made a big mistake by pursuing the legal strategy as aggressively as it did," said Martin Reynolds, research fellow at Gartner. "It's a big PR issue. There's a lot of damage out there they'll have to control." -July 12, 2001 article on Rambust's dropping stock price.
WELL DUH!!!!
As for nForce I am taking a wait and see. I certainly hope thing turns out well.
I seriously doubt that "Within a week" is a true statement. Someone here wanna drop Asus or Abit an email and ask??? I'm thinking late August/Early September we see mass production. Maybe a lil earlier
<< I also have a PII 400 (on a 82440BX board) and it's anything but a POS!!! >>
true true it served me well. it's just that it aches to have games out like Max Payne and not partake in the gaming goodness There still hasn't been a better chipset on either AMD or Intel since then (until this nforce that is )
lol, i was just joking around everyone. I was just saying it seems like whenever you buy something the big new thing is out next week and what you got is already obsolete.
Speaking of y2k, my g/f had a crazy religious relative who swore up & down that armageddon was coming and you'd better buy tonnes of gold to survive in the post-apocalyptic economy.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to ask her if she sold off all her worldly possessions & moved into an underground bunker
