IMO, NV's killer feature is the Gamestream, making local Co-Op games playable with a friend over IP.

AMD really needs that feature, just like Shadowplay for twitch streaming.

They are operating in reactive mode though, following NV's lead on features. It's been a long time since they pushed novel features and NV followed.

I feel the Stream feature would be much better if it weren't tied to NV's other products. I don't own a Shield Tablet/Controller/Console and I have no intentions of buying one at their current price points.

I'd give it a go in the living room TV just for chimps and giggles, if it worked with say one of my consoles or even my Samsung phone.

I can't decide who is worse -- the posters here who deliberately set out to provoke confrontation, or the ones who respond to the provocation.

Thread moved and cleaned.

Those still exist?

They have more features for GPU control in CCC and even more in Radeon Software now I think. For the eco-system features (what some would consider bloatware), I guess they need more. My thing is I am not sure who should do this stuff. Microsoft for example has xbox one streaming to PC, working on PC streaming to Xbox one. They could make it a standard feature of the OS to gamestream and even have low performance hit streaming to twitch etc built into the OS. Steam as well has streaming to devices around the house and could enable streaming steam games to mobile devices.

should the GPU maker be the one doing it? Maybe I guess. I think microsoft would be the most likely. For companies like valve they'd all have to do their own implementation unless there was some standard. It would be cool if some of these made it into directx features.

The actual GPU settings stuff is ahead afaik. eg. tessellation factors in CCC that apparently weren't in nvidias software.

That's a thing?

Catalyst only takes a second to load for me. Perhaps untick the web content box?

It helps a little bit but CCC is still slow on me, because i'm using HDD. Perhaps you have SSD, and the software installed on it.

Cosmetic changes, faster load times and added couple of tweaks are good progress but as far as i see there's no massive changes. It's based on old Catalyst drivers, right? Maybe some performance upgrades for new popular games and fixes of the common problems come with the new driver.

The question is:Will they keep supporting old hardwares(HD 5000, HD 6000 and their mobile or APU versions)or abandon them and focus on only GCN?

I'm just happy to see a focus on making software work well so less third party apps are needed. Competition on the ui front is nice. Good to see amd and nvidia competing on all fronts for our business. I'm excited for the new ccc and gfe.

Nope. My OS is installed on a 200GB partition of my 2TB Seagate Barracuda, connected to a SATA II port. 'Tis almost full; used 170GB of it.

Something's wrong with your compy, if CCC is taking an age to open.

Would it have killed them to stick with the windows ui guidelines?

This doesnt bother anyone else?

I hate software like this. Its like all the motherboard monitoring/overclocking stuff that has weird shapes. It just ends up looking like its been designed by a teenager in the early 90's.

The settings (app?) in windows 10 look quite nice. Why not use that as a base and build something that looks similar ( or even better integrate into it).

Have an option for automatic, user invisible updates.

Or better still make it look like the intro to a 90's rock video and have lots of facebook, twitter and reddit buttons all over it. Make it look really radical. Maybe make it play guitar riffs when you select options?

it doesn't really bother me much,
to be perfectly honest I would be 100% fine with this,
pretty simple to use and lightweight

better than the current one at least.

Mother of god, I forgot how bad the original software suite was. It was integrated into the Display Driver Properties page!!!

On the comparative to the Windows 10 UI, are we talking about the settings page with all the gray? That thing is awful! I'd take "Crimson" over that. And chances are the "Crimson" is wording just for a red theme. Users might get to pick different themes/color sets.

Red being my favorite color, I sort of like it But I'm also a teenager at heart haha.

Imagine how much of a mess your computer would look if everyone ignored the standard UI?

If they just used the standard Windows interface then people wouldn't be able to hate the software simply because its "ugly". Which we see quite often.

CCC takes forever to open on all my machines even the ones with ssds.

It could be similar to the NVIDIA Control Panel bug. If you have a large Steam library, the NVCP will load up quickly, but then if you try to change a setting, it will appear frozen for up to a minute or so. It has something to do with how the NVCP scans your game directories for executables, I think. I haven't looked into it too much, but I know there's a fix.

Sh*t, I even wish Windows would stick to the standard Windows interface. It's probably just paranoia, but the more an application deviates from the typical Windows appearance, the less I tend to trust it. LOL

My people have a words for that in our language we call it "Linux on the Desktop."

But more seriously, this control panel is using Qt widgets, which means cross-platform. It'll be running on OSX and Linux as well as Windows. Not all that horrible, considering.

I wonder if this will fix Displayport sleeping issues and the rearranging of Windows when bringing the monitors out of sleep. Or maybe it's a pipe dream as that is a Windows problem.

That's a Windows/DP problem, as far as I've been able to find out. Extremely annoying though.

Too bad. I just picked up my first DP monitor (yeah, I'm a dinosaur) and my searches show that people have had this problem going back 5+ years.

Since this is unrelated to Crimson, I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.
