I haven't looked for any PoS news. Last news I saw was that they were integrating the Zcash private transaction features into Ethereum, which I guess will require another fork. So that will probably delay PoS. Though I could be wrong.

Still looking good though. It's up over $8 per ETH which is an improvement from the $7 range it's been in for over a month.

Still holding my ETH. I've sold a trickle here and there in the $8s to offset some computer hardware purchases. Can't beat "free" hardware.

A lot of folks are still "holding the bag" having bought in at around $12, but hey the more mining you do, the less of a problem it becomes. I'm still holding all of mine, and mining ZEC to buy more ETH. ZEC seems to have stabilized at around $50, so the whole thing works out.

It's borderline. Some 2GB cards can still mine, others can't. Maybe due to how the BIOS is set up? Anyway, they will all drop out very soon now.

my two 5870 can mine monero... just not cost effective for more than 6 cents per kilowatt

Also, has the Ethereum DAG finally gone over 2 GB? Does that mean 2 GB cards can no longer mine it?

my 380 2gb still runs on a win7 4 card box. somewhat depends on what order the cards are in near as i can figure. it would not run as gpu1 (secondary card) card in 2 card system but runs fine as gpu2 in the 4 card rig. go figure.

Weird. I only have one 2GB card (a 270) and it's currently mining ZEC, but if your 380 ever stops being able to mine ETH, will you let us know? Your report is quite interesting.

will do.

i had written it off for eth tbh. it had stopped being able to mine eth a month or two ago. the rig, with 2 390s and the 380 2gb have been on zec since.

only noticed when i added a 460 a few days ago to the rig and fired up cdm 7.4 to bench it on eth that i saw the 380 was mining again.

no changes to settings either, i just copy the .bat and config files from version to version when upgrading the miner software.

An announcement from Coinbase (includes a brief analysis of ETH):
https://blog.coinbase.com/completin...y-6bcc44ca40ee?source=rss----c114225aeaf7---4

Summary: Coinbase believes ETH is presently the best candidate for being a payments network. BTC still the "gold" of digital currencies.

I find that to be a valid assessment, which is why I got involved with Ethereum in the first place.

ETH jumping up in price today.

Probably related to the above? Or is it something else?

Over $11. Probably mostly on the Coinbase news along with the general BTC surge.

Do any of you use & manage multiple wallets for BTC / Eth?

A lot of my friends & family have shown interest in crypto currencies, but I will be the one managing the coins on their behalf, and would like to set up a separate wallet for each user.

For BTC I could use something like https://multibit.org/... what about Eth, and other coins like ZEC? Any suggestions?

for eth i use the standard ethereum wallet, it can do multiple accounts each with separate passwords so all accounts could be run from 1 program. not exactly the same as a separate wallet program but no one can get into the others accounts.

https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases

note that mist is the combined wallet/browser, ethereum wallet is just the wallet. all you need is the wallet.

Thanks man, re: the multiple accounts on the Mist wallet, does it show & keep transaction history for each account separately? (Looks like I'll need a wallet contract to show incoming transactions)

yup you would need wallet contracts. i dont use the wallet contracts as exchanges may not support them and i just do stuff straight from my account.

regular accounts do not keep track of transactions. you could use an eth blockchain explorer and check account addys that way though.

eth wallet is still a mess imo

so kinda depends on your needs.

I don't trust online wallets or standalone apps. I personally recommend hardware wallets with a paper backup. I have both the Trezor and Ledger Nano S. Both are good but the Ledger supports more currencies. Trezor has beta support for XMR but I wouldn't use it. For smaller amounts Jaxx is pretty good as an all in one solution but Mycelium has been around longer and supports the Trezor.

Anyone mine anything on a 1050? Kinda want an HDMI 2 card and that's about the cheapest one locally. Some 460s available for a couple bucks less.

Those are really USB keys aren't they? So if the flash goes bad your wallets are screwed?

In the world of backups, two is one and one is none. I learned this lesson back in the early days of BTC.

That's why I have off-site backups as well.

I have a Ledger Nano S. When you create an account with it you generate a 24 word recovery phrase, so in the event of loss/damage/theft of the device, the phrase can be used to recover access to the account.
