Are you even sure the numbers they are claiming are real?

Here is some of the details of the clear skies initiative that I could find from the whitehouse. The numbers from their document tally with what the other source claim for the clear skies proposals.

Here is the clean power act.

`(a) IN GENERAL- Subject to subsections (b) and (c), the Administrator shall promulgate regulations to ensure that, during 2009 and each year thereafter, the total annual emissions of covered pollutants from all electricity generating facilities located in all States does not exceed--

`(1) in the case of sulfur dioxide--

`(A) 275,000 tons in the western region; or

`(B) 1,975,000 tons in the nonwestern region;

`(2) in the case of nitrogen oxides, 1,510,000 tons;

`(3) in the case of carbon dioxide, 2,050,000,000 tons; or

`(4) in the case of mercury, 5 tons.

All as stated in the first source I mentioned. It seems they do have a valid and serious point.

Cheers,

Andy

Someone please show me that I'm reading these numbers wrong. Even I can't believe that the administration would put out a plan that was in all ways worse than the existing solution! If that were true then I'd start worrying about how compromised the system could be!

Cheers,

Andy
