What sucks about Europe is that people have lived there for ever and everything is covered in people film. I spent a semester in Ireland and went all over Europe, and everywhere I went I felt like I was in a gas station bathroom...

EDIT: Thats too strong, really it just felt like everything had the same level of funk on it that the hand rails on Metro escaltors does...

Which isn't to say that I don't think Europe isn't cool to visit... I just think you need to remember to pack the purel

11) TV is saturated with adverts. I remember watching a movie, and for every 6 minutes of film there was 3 minutes of adverts... WTF?!?!
12) Short attention spans (see 11) means I have to cut this short otherwise I'll be asked for cliffs.

i have a couple of friends from the UK. you don't represent them thank God.

13) The american language is hideous and is a bastardised version of the English language. You use idiotic terms like 'douche' which actually means 'shower' in French in order to insult people. Listening to people speak in american english grates as they use 'like' far too often, for example, and sound insincere.
14) When you can't actually formulate an argument you just call people a douche.

The English do a fine job at butchering their own language. Honestly, we aren't the only ones who screw it up.

I used to think the US was the center of lowbrow culture, but I've since realized that we're actually just the source.

My first suspicions were aroused when I saw a giant poster in Paris for a Dennis Rodman movie. I mean, FFS, nobody in the US watched that movie. NOBODY. And yet there it was, being enjoyed by thousands of frogs who left the theater snorting about how stupid Americans are.

My suspicions were confirmed by Baywatch, easily the trashiest, most moronic show ever produced (despite, or perhaps because of, its silicone assets). In the States, that show was a cable-only, second-tier show that never made the top ten in ratings. Worldwide, it was the highest rated show on the planet. That's right. We turned down our own cheese-and-tits fare, and the rest of the planet gobbled it up.

So what does that say?

I used to live in Germany and now in the us.

In the us people still get "checks" which they have to cash or deposit...and direct deposit is the BIGGEST deal ever here (for some people).

In EU you dont even get a job without having a checking acc with direct-deposit because basically everything, your job's pay, rent, utilities is USUALLY done via direct deposit.

Need a public phone in Germany ? You buy a smart-card with a chip on it which you can load up...unless HERE in the states where you still feed coins into a phone.

I dont know what exp you had there....but especially when it comes to money-transfers and paying etc. i think EU is FAR way beyond. Maybe it's different in UK...i don't know.

Any country which has people who look down upon other countrie because it differs from their own well and truly sucks. Every country/culture is different in their own way, trying to compare it with a different country and saying it sucks because its different is retarded.

I'll give you a great example. I went to a big ISKON temple in India once and was talking to the main priest (guru) there, he introduced me to a italian guy who was telling me how great and different the experience was, of living and experiencing life in India, while we were talking another white guy came and in front of me bitched for 5 minutes about how the bathrooms werent well kept and rooms were not cleaned daily etc. Ofcourse I didnt needed to guess he as a Yank. His attitude more than his accent gave it away. When you visit/live in a foreign country you should enjoy the place for what it has to offer.

Only cellular calls, but I still agree. In both Israel and Jordan I've never paid a single agora or qirsh (.01 of the NIS and JOD respectively) to accept an incoming call on my cell phone, and AFAIK its the same in most of Europe. Wish American cellular companies were like that.

Oh yeah, we still get free intra-carrier calls though, didn't see any of that abroad.
