On the other side of things, one time as a teenager we were coming home from Chicago at 4am and my friend was driving over 100 mph. We don't know how fast we were going because the meter was pegged. We passed a officer sitting in the median and my friend slowed down. The cop disappeared from view only to re-appear a few seconds later with his lights on. He told us that had we not slowed down he never could of caught us.

It's not worth it if you don't actually get away.
They will tell you: "You can't out run Motorola."

However another friend of mine tried to out run a state trooper on the highway(his car didn't go over 80..) in the snow. Cop caught up to him at the exit put him in the back of the cruiser and started yelling at him for making him speed in the snow (cop also mentioned he was 30 seconds from calling ahead to the other troopers). My friend lost his license for a year due to that.
So basically it's only worth it if you are positive you can get away with it. Which is pretty rare.

lol i had a similar experience. i got my license back the day before prom (yes, i was the bane of the local police, suspended license 7 times before i graduated hs). got into a little altercation with a convertible full of meathead jocks, they tossed a bottle at my car. came in thru the window, i got it off the seat and tossed it out the sun roof at them, hitting the trunk. chased me for about 5 miles at 80-120mph down rural rd in tempe/ scottsdale at 3am. at southern the road was a big speed bump on both sides of the intersection. i hit the first bump, sparked the hell out of my chassis and flew over the second bump 4 lanes past. there was a cop sitting at the red light going the other way, watched both of us fly thru at 110ish. took him4 more miles to catch up to us, and only stopped me. let them keep on going. the cops dont give up unless they have to here. that would never happen now tho, now they have to back off to avoid a dangerous hi speed chase scene. back in thee mid 80s they would chase you until you ran out of gas, even up onto the res. you dont want to get stopped on the res tho. thats a whole different scary thing.
